Shame that Van de Zandslupf (?) had to retire out of that final, because it looked to be a good one. First final for both. Young Holger Rune wins his first title, 2 days after his 19th birthday.
And he gets a Beemer out of it. Does he even know how to drive it? :dance3:

With one glaring difference. Sascha's Dad is nowhere near as annoying as Mr. Tits.
Keli, are you saying that because his son young Pegasus is full of yesterday's lunch which is the need for the long toliet breaks

That and his father continues to blatantly coach from the stands because the ATP is too wimpy to actually levy any punishment on them.

At this level and with his experience, Tiafoe should have played better in a final.Too bad
Agreed, but the reality is he shouldn't even have been in the final. Like I said before Korda collapsed and he'll have to swallow that. We'll never know now, but he likely would have won the title against Baes.

Foe reminds me of a young Monf. Flashy w/ a lot of trick shots and a complete crowd hog. The difference is fitness. Frances is not as fit a young Gael. I like the fact that he's working with Wayne now, but he's got to ramp up that endurance and discipline. Most tournaments throughout the year are BO3 except the 4 slams. At his age, he should be able to handle playing daily at a 250 event.

One of the hardest things to do is to close out a match unless you are Pete Sampras. IMO. Sampras had the greatest first and second serve combined with his car like quick feet and NBA athlethism vertical leaping ability. I would like to see what his stats were for serving out the match. Otherwise, if you are mortal, facing an ATP player who has been competitive at the highest level can be a daunting task. The opponent will try to be play more aggressively and take more risks than earlier in the match. Reference Federer's Wimbledon and US open vs Novak collapses. It's not so easy
Right. If it was easy, it would really be crowded in the top 20. And I'll actually give him a pass against Nads at IW because it's hard to defeat your idol or someone you look up to. But let's be real, he should have put Frances away and he didn't. It's a mentality and if you don't already own it, you have to learn it.

Agreed, Tiafoe is not as fit as Gael whom is not in the league of being physically and mentally fit as Rafa, Fed and Novak (who wasnt when he started the tour around the same time as Gael).

However I think Frances tries his trick shot because doesnt give every point his all (very rarely do you see Rafa or Novak take mental breaks in their matches). Frances is too fundamentally flawed to win later on weekends with his style of play. Gael is fundamentally sound and have a top five feel of the ball. Gael has a A, B and C game plan but his nerves temp him to try to get the crowd involved. A good friend of mine have told me that I need to learn to accept Frances for who he is on the tennis courts. I agree with my friend but I NEVER set my expectations with Tiafoe.

Ukrainian players have largely supported Wimbledon’s ban, and Sergiy Stakhovsky – who retired earlier this year and has since joined the Ukrainian army to defend his homeland – condemned Nadal’s stance.

“@RafaelNadal we competed together … we’ve played each other on tour,” Stakhovsky wrote on Twitter.

“Please tell me how it is fair that Ukrainian players cannot return home? How it is fair that Ukrainian kids cannot play tennis? How is it fair that Ukrainians are dying?”

Love the commentary from "just retired" Ukrainian player, Sergiy Stakhovsky! Fine, it's unfair to Russian and Belarusian players, but it's even more unfair that a country is being bombarded and their citizens killed! THANK YOU! It's as if I never hear this! It's been such a one-sided argument! :shushing-face:

Marian Vajda has joined the coaching team of Alex Molcan, Karol Beck will still be the head coach of Molcan

I get what Sergiy Stahovsky is trying to say or feel, but whether Nadal, or other tennis players say about the Wimbledon ban, nothing will change about Putin's greedy position of the war.
