Did anyone see Foki today? He won in straights. I'll try to catch the TC replay

I saw the second set. Zapata Miralles was playing well, and Foki got a bit tentative, but pulled it out in the TB.

Ferdasco very upset with the wild cards in Madrid M1000,
"It's my city,I played for 17 years and now, that I need it they give wild card to a world No 500 and one French.Pouille is my friend, but it makes no sense. It's like Paris-Bercy givng me a wild card instead of him".

Peter Bodo hit a new low with this crap...

"If you have proverbial tears to shed, don’t waste them on Medvedev and company. Save them for the people of Ukraine."

^ What an absolute clown for posting that. It can be both, Bodo! Shocking to ban players from Russia and Belarus AND very sad what's happening in Ukraine. Unreal. He thinks it's fine to ban them.

The All England Club was not merely smart, says the author, but more importantly, right

UNREAL. Peter Bozo more like.

Delbonis hits the cover off the ball. Maybe he's looking to sharpen his defense after the layoff.
Agreed. Also Makes sense he practices with someone whose ball travels quickly through the court.
Doesn't the relatively higher elevation, about 2000 feet above sea level , make the ball bounce faster and higher in Madrid.? TBH, other than it squeezes too much tennis out of Rafa because of MC and Barcelona before it, Madrid should suit him fine for his 2022 game. Hopefully Rafa can adjust even if the courts are faster than the other Red clay because his topspin should also have more bite.

A crown prince was vexed. Thoroughly vexed.

Prince Alexander Zverev on his loss to Holger Rune today at the BMW Open, 6-3, 6-2:

"I would have lost to any player from the main draw today, that was my worst match in six or seven years" - Alexander Zverev after 2R defeat by Holger Rune in Munich.

The lowliest qualifier would have bested the Prince.
So take that, Dane commoner Holger Rune! Don't even dare to think you genuinely outplayed the German Dauphin (yes, I know that's a French royal term but it sounds good together)

The arrogance is organic with his few wins over Djokovic in BO3 matches! After those victories, he always tells Nole, ":you're the greatest of all time!" Sascha thinks he should win more and never go down to lower ranked players! :fearful-face: :face-with-hand-over-mouth::face-with-tears-of-joy::partying-face:

If we ever wondered if Bodo was an idiot, now we know for sure. What a tool. Rublev states publicly against the war, then Bodo disses him for coming out against the ban. What have you done for me lately, Andrey? Bozo, indeed.

I'm not sure if this was already posted, but this is the Wimbledon statement:

Their standing is as limp as Bodo's, while pretending to be principled.

In part:

"Given the profile of The Championships in the United Kingdom and around the world, it is our responsibility to play our part in the widespread efforts of Government, industry, sporting and creative institutions to limit Russia’s global influence through the strongest means possible.

In the circumstances of such unjustified and unprecedented military aggression, it would be unacceptable for the Russian regime to derive any benefits from the involvement of Russian or Belarusian players with The Championships."

___________

Note that the Government's position is cited, so there may have been pressure there. And, as always, Wimbledon's out-sized view of their own importance in the world. I'm sorry, but tennis is not soccer. Even on the outside chance that both Medvedev and Sabalenka were to both win Wimbledon, someone tell me how this would be some propaganda victory for Putin? At some point during the fortnight, Daniil is going to come off like a dick or a crybaby, or both. And I like the guy. I also like Sabalenka, but wrapping your arms around her as a fan is rather like donning a very itchy sweater. Propaganda darlings? I think no.

Plus, doesn't Britain (London) have some nerve getting all up themselves about excluding Russians after being Siberia-upon-Thames as a money laundering haven for Russian oligarchs for the past decade+? And where was the excluding of US players when the Americans invaded Iraq under false pretenses, killing civilians? Oh, right...Tony Blair supported that one.

Sorry for the rant.

Here's something for you @Moxie to cheer you up.

I received a pair of gloves and I'm just staring at them wondering if supplier is messing with my mind or did they just put a wrong delivery address?
I mean what are the odds?

Each week, Alexander Zverev's quote about himself being a part of the new Big 3 of men's tennis in 2022, becomes funnier and funnier!

Seeing the Madrid tournament was sold to IMG, players that are represented by IMG apparently were given out wild cards, over Spanish players,I can understand why Verdasco was upset

What the blankety-blank-blank is Felix doing? As the top seed he drops the opening set to Taberner :face-with-symbols-on-mouth:

FAA needs to play with 'margin' for starters also he cannot play in the wind!.....Traberner wins the 1st set 61...
Thankfully FAA made adjustments to his game in the 2nd set and wins 62.
FAA d Taberner 16 62 62
