I'm looking at the draw. Tsitsipas and Davidovich Fokina are still in. I'm thinking they'll withdraw.
I will be very surprised if either will play.I saw that Alcaraz could meet Tsitipas in the draw, though lets see if Tsitipas plays.
I am hoping Ruud plays better,he seemed flat in his match in MC.
Tommy Robredo will officially retire in Barcelona tournament.

I think Ruud will play. But Schwartzman and Dimitrov are in there, too. I wonder if they'll pass. I see you said RBA was out, though he's still in the draw. To me, it looks like the Barcelona draw will have a lot of qualifiers in. Let's see what it looks like tomorrow. I'm just about to give the Belgrade draw a look.

Why would Tsitsipas withdraw from Barcelona? He played last year. He won in MC and played final of Barca against Rafa.

I mentioned this is going to be a pattern! Today's players just can't hang like the Big 3! If they have a winning streak, they actually need a break! :face-with-tears-of-joy:
You do realize that by giving a reference to the big 3 you are giving a compliment to Nadal!

I do not see Tsitsipas withdrawing from Barcelona. Now, that he has won MC once again, he will definitely will try to keep the momentum going. However, he does need to stop playing those smaller Clay court tournaments. While he is young, he does not want to overplay right before Roland Garros.

Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Madrid, and Rome are the ideal tournaments for Tsitsipas leading up to RG.

Barcelona is a unique 500 tournament in which the Top 16 seeds are given a bye in the 1st round. Usually, in a 500 tournament, either no player gets a bye, or only the top 8 seeds are given a 1st-round bye.

In addition, I just realized this, but it looks like Jannik Sinner withdrew from the Barcelona tournament most likely due to the toe blister. Hopefully, he gets rest and is able to compete at a 100% in the remaining part of the Clay season.

Looking at the draw, hopefully, we get to see a Tsitsipas-Alcaraz QF match-up on Clay. Finally, the bottom of the draw is WIDE OPEN. I do not trust either Ruud or Diego to reach the final.

Jannik came on video via twitter of his withdrawal at the Barcelona tournament, which I feel is a good move,he was limping a bit in the 3rd set in his match against Zverev, hopefully the rest will do his toe good before his next tournament

Note: Tommy Robredo is in the draw for Barcelona, and Thiem for Belgrade. Just pointing that out, for various reasons.

Novak will most likely play in form Djere in R2 and then possibly Kecmanovic or Thiem, though Kecmanovic looks like like more probable option. Not an easy start to a 250 tournament.

I cannot see Thiem getting far in the tournament.,getting over another dose of COVID,also lost in his first match in a challenger tournament

I agree with Margaret above that I don't think Thiem will make it to Novak. But I do agree with you that Novak doesn't have it so very easy, for a 250. Everyone is trying to get their feet in the clay, and for Novak, it's like trying to jump into double-dutch with his late start on the year.
