In fairness, I think Opelka is perhaps the most interesting of the Tall Trees. Certainly he is off the court. In the Battle of the Tall Trees in Houston, ( I was score boarding by the way )
Reilly Opelka defeated John Isner 63 76(7) to win the title.
I have no idea what kind of person Opelka is off the court, though he seems a likeable player on the court. In fairness, I think Opelka is perhaps the most interesting of the Tall Trees. Certainly he is off the court.

This is as close to a compliment as I’m giving the Isner Redwood. He turns 37 in 2 weeks and is still in the top 25 , this evergreen has been top 25 since 2010, a long lived tall tree indeed. In fairness, I think Opelka is perhaps the most interesting of the Tall Trees. Certainly he is off the court.
By the time he got this close, I was less surprised. The guy was once #7 in the world. I guess he's had a lot of injuries, but he has a been climbing back. This win moves him back up 27 places to #47, according to live rankings. He's 31, so I don't expect the world of him, but he could have a decent next few years, if he can stay healthy.David Goffin won his 6th ATP Tour title today in Marrakech. Probably one of the most surprising winners of the year so far. I did not expect for Goffin to win a title.
He also got married last year. Which might have contributed to lack of focus or training.By the time he got this close, I was less surprised. The guy was once #7 in the world. Somehow I suspect you're just teasing me with this. He's been with the woman for 10 years. How distracted could he have been? What with the wedding planning and all?He also got married last year. Which might have contributed to lack of focus or training.
Hey, we don't know how involved he was w/ the planning. Not every man just shows up when told.Somehow I suspect you're just teasing me with this. He's been with the woman for 10 years. How distracted could he have been? What with the wedding planning and all?
Last year it was ankle, then knee. And he's had some terrible luck injuries along the way, too.
Maybe wedding planning is his exit strategy.Hey, we don't know how involved he was w/ the planning. Not every man just shows up when told.
I meant to respond to this yesterday. Opelka is a cool dude! He collects modern art. He's actually sponsored by an art gallery. And he reads books. He and Serena have been spotted at art galleries together. And he's more than a serve-bot on court. I like him.I have no idea what kind of person Opelka is off the court, though he seems a likeable player on the court.
