No I was following it on the score board as I was watching live the women in Charleston
Yes, my Tennis Channel is also now the 24/7 Charleston channel, even in the morning, when it's just reruns of the Charleston matches. Too bad they weren't willing to make some deal with Houston.

We're all about "exclusivity!" Someone; maybe the local market of Texas bought up the time early this week! ESPN doesn't run it all! It just seems like it since the Networks are about as entertained by tennis as me! The women's game had a chance to make some rating's power with Osaka, but it didn't last! She was literally run off the tour! Repeating Charleston "as is" is just plain unfortunate! The saturation will hurt more than help! The Men's game has a real chance to finally "pass the torch" from Fedalovic with all these new Masters' Champs! Carlos can possibly skate by Stefanos, Dom, & Sascha! They've allowed senior citizens to hold them off in the rankings! Daniil had a real chance to settle comfortably into being #1. Again, it escapes the NG'rs allowing Nole to take back the top spot! :face-with-hand-over-mouth: :astonished-face::shushing-face:

There’s a large and welcomed dollop of truth in there, brother. The players like Tsitsipas and Zverev, who allowed the geriatrics to have their way with them, won’t have the backbone to hold off an Alcaraz or Felix if they develop as we think they might.

Look at all the generations of tennis players who’ve been hopeless, in the face of the Big 3: Rogers contemporaries like Roddick, Safin, Nalbandian, then the next bunch like Tsonga, Berdych, Gasquet, then the Missing Link generation of Grigor and Samurai and Cough Drop. Now the generation that followed them, Tsitsipas and Zverev, Medvedev etc, they’re already in danger of looking old.

I don’t know if I missed any generations in between. What might help Carlos, Sinner and Felix is that they barely knew the Big 3…

It wasn't bad enough The Big 3 won most of the Majors in the last 20 years, they didn't leave much in the way of crumbs, stealing most of the Masters and YEC's as well! Their stranglehold over the tour may be loosening up with Fed already gone, Nole banished until next week, & now Rafa injured! The new crop think of them as legends who should "push off!" The respect ain't there! Carlos should have won that match over Rafa at IW's! I think CA will take their next meeting; even if on clay! I'm calling it!" These newbies have no real fear! It's about time! :fearful-face: :partying-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::astonished-face:

I remember John McEnroe losing to Sampras in 1990 at the USO and what struck him was the feeling that these youngsters loved beating him, just to say they beat McEnroe. Unfortunately during the reign of the Big 3, and particularly in the early years of Rogers easy dominance, players were just as happy to say they played Roger Federer. I never got the feeling that losing hurt them as much as it should have..

Except I think that one was used before, with the next Gen, or next next...I'm losing track. Clearly it's not (only) about intimidation, it's about being out-classed. The subsequent generations have had a lot of failings. At some point it's some version of lack of talent and lack of nerve, with a soupçon of petulance and (as yet) undeserved entitlement. I'm hoping the new kids have their heads on straight, and bring actual talent.

That’s it! Some spirit was lacking in the old trousers department, in previous iterations of the Next Gen. I like style of young players like Carlos and Felix in particular. I like the attitude. I hope they never get happy with where they are, but keep pushing themselves harder..

Oh, didn't you know?? Behind the scenes you were not only expected to lose to Roger, but you were supposed to also enjoy it; singing his praises during the award's ceremony! I was run off from watching the Men's tour for a few years with "The Fedal Show!" The delusion was REAL behind Roger's so called dominance was so imagined when you seriously look at it! It 'd sound like "hating" so I'm going to just say nothing! :face-with-hand-over-mouth: :fearful-face::shushing-face:

This. The accolades his opponents shoved his way was fairly nauseating TBH. Even as late as the 2009 FO final, Soderling it was obvious had mentally given up trying to beat "the Great Federer" before the first ball was struck. I'm not going to get sucked into a "weaker era" debate but those 2004-2007 opponents' with one notable exception didn't seem to have much belief.

I think you're confusing respect with belief. Looking back, it's amusing that that one exception, Rafa, was respectful about Roger throughout the first phase of his career (stating ad nauseum "Federer is the GOAT'' etc) but the difference was that Rafa genuinely believed he could beat Federer and he did.

So Carlos Alcaraz can still view Rafa as his role model and idol and simultaneously think " I can beat this guy." Which is as it should be.

Going to miss Joe Willy;

Again, it was past time w/ injury breaks that grew exponentially! It's not our decision, but how often will we see this? The last was Tommy Haas limping out finally! We're still looking for Federer's farewell tour!:partying-face::astonished-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::fearful-face:

Now THIS is how you do a public bitchslap.

Marion Bartoli responding to Tsitsipas whining that if women want equal pay they should play best of five...

"To reduce that in hourly volume by saying: 'We play longer in terms of sets so we must be paid more', these are childish debates that we come out with every two or three years as soon as a man is touched in his ego to see that there are fewer people to see his match than for a women's match. Really, it's starting to piss me off. "

Well done, Marion!

BTW Casper Ruud did go to the dentist regarding the pain in his wisdom teeth and via twitter he posted a video that indeed he had to have them out.So Casper was correct in saying he did have pain in Miami and was the reason he had to withdraw from Huston tournament.

Matteo Berretinni is out of MC.Madrid and Rome.Matteo does not want to rush the recovery from his recent hand surgery, didn't mention Roland Garos but you would think that Paris is out as well.

With Berretinni withdrawing from MC.Carlos Alcaraz is the 8th seed in Monte Carlo

BTW the rumors that Patrick Mouratoglou was short listed for Novak's team can now be put to bed.Patrick will be coaching Simona Halep ( short term coaching appointment) for the clay season. Patrick wasnt really going to be a good fit for Novak's team.
