Never get tired of watching Stan hit backhand winners

As the commentator just pointed out - today we have, Warwrinka, Gasquet, Thiem and Musetti. Proverbial one handed backhand fest!

Stan motoring nicely.
1st set in the bag.
Low 1st serve %, but 80% won behind 2nd serve does nicely.
You are only as good as your 2nd serve..

Well you'll get all you want as Stan's working #1 Med over, taking him into a 3rd set in Metz! They're in the 2nd Rd. of Moselle in France! :shushing-face:

Wawrinka's biggest win since god knows when.
I watched most of that match. What a win for Stan. Commies were saying that the longer it went on, better chances for Medvedev. Wrong. Stan was impressive. Medvedev's serve was way off. Surely he was "cold" compared to Stan, but not much of an excuse. He did successfully drop-shot Stan more than a few times. The wheels are not the same.

Great and classic Stan!
It was a bit too cliffhangery for my nerves, but that's what makes a good match

If only Stan's FH was as good as his BH

Med served over 3 games worth of double faults!

Too much tennis to watch

Sonego v Korda on now.

Wawr v Ymer coming up.

Fast twitch muscle Rune v unpredictable riddle of Bublik's-cube.

Oh forgot Rinderknech v Hurk too!

That's just Moselle

Laver cup also!

With all the Laver cup action, slow to see the good matches elsewhere.

Sonego def Korda in quite straightforward manner really.
A break from Sonego's recent form.

Ymer v Wawr. I want to watch but won't have the time..
Ditto the others.

Might add some to watchlist, for the long no tennis off season...

Stan retires early in the match v Bublik Moselle semi final.
He's not won so many matches in a row (he qualified of course) since getting to the 2017 Rolland Garros final against Nadal.

Just couldn't recover in time. Movement wasn't there.

Let's see how Sonego v Hurkacz goes.
Looks like Hubie will be more of a handful than Korda..
I think I'm rooting for Hubie.

Then it's off to play tennis myself

Sonego played the same high level of tennis in the final as he had the whole week.
Didn't drop a set on the way to the title.
The Bublik puzzle continues, self destructed against the umpire, early in the 2nd set. A call that actually favoured him as he got a 1st serve again.
He underarm served multiple times, comedy dropshots, did an easy smash with his racquet handle! (went in but lost the point), managed a successful tweener.
Entertaining but bled points.

The French crowd and the brass band were a riot.

I always feel the player resorting to the underarm serve is getting desperate, and when they use it “multiple” times, their desperation is growing. It’s like the overuse of dropshots. You’ve run out of ideas at that stage. Unless you’re Alcaraz…

What happened to the Draper vs Lajović match. Just says cancelled?!

The Rune v Rijthoven was a close score.
The latter needs to up his first serve 55%. 2nd serve wasn't great at 44%.

I had no idea Novak's playing Tel Aviv tournament this week! He's the #1 seed as opposed to being #4 in Astana next week! Has quite a draw! :astonished-face:
I had no idea these tournaments even existed before I heard Novak plays Tel Aviv :D Just to be clear Tel Aviv is 250 and Astana is 500? Novak will be aiming for the last 8 spot if he plays a lot in a next month and gets good results.
