Wow that's very disturbing that he has fallen down so far .. he needs to go to the Nadal academy

Not surprised in the least that he's having issues! Thiem's stroke production is exhausting to watch! Everything is going on, all across his body to hit the simplest BH! His wrist is lucky that's the only real problem he has right now! I couldn't imagine him w/o wrist issues, esp. after the long 5 set battles he's had over the years against Nadal, Djokovic, Zverev, Del Po, & Tsitsipas! That 2018 USO thriller vs Nadal was almost as bad as AO 5:53 w/ Djokovic! It drained the whole stadium with a 4th & 5th set TB! Nadal had to retire against Del Po in the next Rd.! That helped facilitate Novak winning his last USO! His old coach, Becker, broke his wrist with the way he'd try to abuse it with overworked ROS, I was surprised he made it all the way back getting to a few more Wimbledon finals! :shushing-face: :face-with-hand-over-mouth::yawningface::face-with-tears-of-joy:

I’m going to say it after Casper wins a slam. I wouldn’t be mad if he took a second to be the next James Bond. He looks nice in all the suits he wears.
They might write a Norwegian James Bond for him

Carl Hamiton book series and films (written by Jan Guillou) was the Sweden's attempt at James Bond.
Not bad, a lot more serious than the Brit film versions.

Yes the latest Cmore / Swedish TV4 production of 2 series is very recent.

There is an older film or 2 I think that I have not watched.

I avidly read all the books back in the day..

Regardless of how you feel Thiem is a winner. His style isn't smooth as Federer but when he is On his game , his results are astounding. IMO

I was really so disappointed for Thiem. Regardless of how you feel about him, he was one of the very few players that actually improved each year before this injury hit him and threw him into chaos. You can actually see the incremental improvements that he made each year before the injury.
I also think Thiem’s team is meh. They really have been going about getting him back the wrong way. I think had he been doing challengers and working his way back during clay season, he would have been in much better working order at this point. He also needs more match play and needs to add some doubles to his mix for now.

Agree, Thiem should have started his comeback at Challenger level, instead of using his PR at higher level tournaments which in ways, have sent him back wards not forwards. The Challenger level is not easy, Theim played against Umbert a good tough player in the Rennes final yesterday. Theim is again using his PR at Metz which is not going to be a easy tournament.Lets see how he fares.

This is from Dominic Thiem on his performance yesterday in the final at Rennes,

" I am not happy with my performance yesterday, but it was a good week. It feels great that my shots get back their old strength. Now it's time to get more solid and used to playing long and intense matches back to back".

Caught up on Korda v Gaston at Moselle.
Korda got it together to put pressure on and come in to finish the otherwise very durable Gaston.

Onwards and upwards, young American.

I’ll always hold it against Korda that his dad was a drug cheat. Strange grudge, you may think, to hold the sins of the father against the son, but let me give some backdrop. Daddy Korda, him of the ridiculous scissors kick celebration, played Pistol Pete in the 4th round of the US Open in 1997, and I finally had to sleep after the fourth set, which Pete won 6-3. I woke the next morning and Princess Diana had died, so the news was block-booked, sports bulletins were cancelled, and there was no internet. No bush telegraph. No rumours, scant knowledge that day that the US Open even existed.

Eventually other tennis fans arose from their slumber but there were no mobile phones. Not for me, anyway. In pubs, I’d had to borrow a pals giant Motorola mobile, the one with the bendy long antenna, when I loudly sauntered by the women, to impress them. “HELLO! YOU’RE BREAKING UP!!” Fidget with the antenna, like a truly important man. But even that antenna couldn’t pick up news of Pete. He’d struggled in the same round at Wimbledon, against the same pesky player, winning the first two sets but still going to 5, from memory.

I didn’t see or hear from anyone until near dinner time, when my mate Deco called in, and asked if I’d heard the score. Unbelievable. Shocked. I was in a state of frenzy before Deco arrived, so imagine my condition when he told me. About 8 months later Korda was done for drugs. Of course, they couldn’t backdate the ban to put Pete in the quarters (and maybe replay the rest of the tournament, I don’t know!), and he even got to keep the Australian Open title he won in early 1998, presumably because the result was so one-sided against Rios, the authorities concluded that even without drugs, Rios might still have gone down in straights.

So the name “Korda” has been banished for generations, far as I’m concerned. Persona non grata. Evil One. He Who Shall Always Bring Out The Worst In Me.

My blood pressure is rising. I’m going into the dark room, to open the windows slightly, and lie still on the floor for the rest of the day….Korda :face-vomiting:

Only the Olympics has the ability to take back a previous awarded champion medal..I am not sure any of the other sports can..senior Korda was a forgettable journeyman of a player..Rios was a outstanding player. I really liked his game.

Looking forward to Stan the Man vs Sousa (never really fulfilled his potential in my eyes)

And then.

Seb Korda vs Lorenzo Musetti should be interesting. Young guns go for it.

Sonego should sweep Simon aside, I think.

Korda punches the air.
Good 2nd set.
Musetti double fault in the tiebreak undid him.
