I don't change my opinion though. Having seen the whole match (and the multitude of forehand errors including several wild shanks), I don't see any chance of him lifting the trophy. Most probably he would be ousted by Norrie in the 3rd round. Gasquet most probably will not have the audacity to beat Fed.
Without a doubt. Not a hope in hell that he'll win the whole thing. Honestly never even know with Gasqet if his backhand is good when they play. He surprised me by doing quite well against Nadal on clay so he may shut the door for Roger.

Seriously, Roger has lost a few steps which is very evident on his errors which are basically lack of footwork movements. RG best chance EVER to capture a Fed scalp is in the NEXT round. However, I wouldn't bet on it

Gasquet probably has the game to beat the current Fed, but not the mental strength needed to actually do so.

I'm less worried about Gasquet than I was Mannarino. For one, its Gasquet. Secondly, it is Gasquet v. 2021, not v. 2015. People talk about Roger's age, but Gasquet is no spring chicken either and has clearly declined from about five years ago. Still, Rog is looking bad. The only glimmer of hope is that he's playing himself into form. But...I don't expect much. We are in the End Times, indeed.

Very ugly fall of Mannarino, they have to do something before could be more accidents

Nick K wins the 1st set 64 over Ugo Humbert, who by the way slipped over on the grass.
Interesting match up,Nick looked disengaged to me in the 2nd set, which is not unusual for Nick
Ugo Humbert wins 2nd set 64
1 set all,if Nick wants to win this match he has to be 'engaged' for the whole match,Ugo is not going away.

A first round loss for Nick would be Humbertable.

See Nick when you 'engaged' in tennis what you can achieve winning the 4th set 61
2 sets all.........apparently Nick likes the 'scenic route' after all
5th set to begin.

All level now and tbh Nick shouldn't fart around here. No Nadal, Robo-Murray with his metal hip and a truly well below par Federer means Kyrgios should be trying to have a good run here.

We can only hope Nick does not go off the rails he played a great 4th set, hopefully he can remain 'engaged' for the 5th set

I very much hope that Nick wins this, for my own sake and for the tournament. He's much more fun than Humbert, I think that's fair to say.

In the last game of the second set (which he lost) Nick went for a drop shot and then had to resort to a tweener lob when the score was 15-30 (at 4-5 in the set). His lob was beyond the line and the score became 15-40 and then he lost the game and the set.

The reason I am bothering to post is that Nick tries to show off even at ridiculous moments score wise. :nono:

In the post-match presser, the first question casually posed to Federer was the following (quoting from memory, may not be exact same words).

"Roger this could be your last slam - are you having pleasure or pressure playing in it"

Federer gently ignored the first part and answered the second part.
