I heard some more about the Olympic Games today. A huge majority of the Japanese people are against them, but the government, having invested billions, and not wanting the Chinese to steal their thunder as holding the first Games post-pandemic, are committed to going forward. Let's see how this goes.

I was on top of football during that period in the 90's! I followed Marty Schottenheimer from Cleveland to KC as coach! It was easy to add them to faves to watch due to their progress over the years, but inability or lack of luck to get over the hump in the playoffs! My all time fave team was Buffalo when they had such a cast of characters with Kelly, Thomas, Smith, Bennett, Tasker, Reed, Christy, & Bebe OTTH! Buffalo winning that playoff game over Houston down 3-35 into the 3rd quarter and without their top 3 players due to injury will keep me beaming and remembering those good ol' days! Looks as if they're on the cusp after getting back to the playoffs last season, so many years of futility with NE owning the division for the last 20 years! I feel like I'm in a time warp with those 2 teams excelling again, except KC has the edge with Mahomes! I can still see Montana getting his bell rung in that playoff game against Buffalo! I think I was sitting at a Vegas poker table and could only see it! Montana was done after that! He's had a dazed look on his face ever since! :face-with-hand-over-mouth:
Football rant, shush!

Sinner v. Khachanov is high-quality. The kid looks done in by the heat, but he's not giving up. Just got the break in the 3rd, and serving for the match. They're hitting the fluff off of the ball. Reminds me of Safin v. Phillipoussis at Wimbledon some years back when the next just finally gave up and fell down. EDIT: Sinner wins!! Just one UFE in the final set.

Seb Korda dropped a dime on Karatsev. Also Rublev told off Fucsovics.

Keep reminding myself that Theim is turning 28 this year, not too long ago that would signal his career was winding down. On the positive side, glad he’s taking the precaution to rest and pace himself before the FO. Dominic has seemed a little off all year so I wonder how long the foot injury has been an issue .

For a dirt baller, surprisingly Dominic has not done very well at MC , in 6 tries his best result is a lone QF so it’s hardly surprising he’s foregoing it if he’s not 100 %.

Barring a loss to some donkey, I only see Thiem as the player who would stop Djokovic making the final at RG but of course that all depends on the draw.

To me the big looming question is how Medvedev is going to do. On paper he has the game to do well at Roland Garos but if he loses in the 1st round ( or 2nd) again you have to figure it’s a mental thing with him.

To me Theim has not played well since the finals in London in 2020,his play at the AO was well below his best.I think he has done the smart thing by withdrawing if he still feels he is not at his best, the clay season is long and it is also taxing on the body and mind.

Yup, it's baffling to say the least that he's lost in the first round every year there. So many potential points he could win and he's beaten Djokovic on clay at Monte Carlo 2019 where he made the SF and lost to Lajovic who has won the last 2 against him now and then made the Barcelona final a week later losing to Thiem so he can definitely play well on clay when he's in form.

Everyone says that Thiem overplays. If he hasn't done well at MC and he plans to peak for RG, this is a good choice.

Reason that Thiem is not playing MC he feels he is not ready to compete,in his statement he did not say he was injured?
In regards to Novak there are rumors at present he won't play Madrid.Novak is still on the entry list for Madrid.....he will play Rome as he is the defending champion.
