And the reason I posted that last post as love-40 now instead of waiting for the break was JUST in case Muguruza could pull it out and she did. 4-all. Good hold under pressure.

Well good for Haddad Maia. Frustrating for Muguruza. She'll find it again one day. But that day is not today.

Sharapova with a wrist injury I see, quite frankly I will not be surprised if she calls it quits this year.

Mugu continues to disappoint me,she has won this tournament before, her ranking continues to tumble backwards.

Just to show you how bias the media outlets are:
Osaka has won 2 slams and is the #2 seed. She lost in straight sets on CC and you hardly heard anything about it. They didn't replay her match or anything.

Mugu (a former champ) lost earlier today in straights to a nobody and they barely mentioned it on ESPN. It was like Oh by the way, Mugu a former champion just went out early. A 7 second highlight showing MP and end of conversation. No interviews or presser.

On the other hand, Venus (who is 39) loses to a next gen and they replayed that match at least 3 times yesterday, showed her presser several times, etc.

No love for Pova either. They haven't really said anything about her today and she's a former champ.

I find it strange that Sharapova retired down 0-5?.....

Funnily, for all the the men's matches that look to be tricky, I haven't pegged a women's one that calls my attention. Anyone else?

Maybe not tricky, but potentially interesting:

Gauff v Rybarikova - I’m curious to see how Gauff backs up her win against Venus
Hsieh v Flipkens - Hsieh is atypical, so I usually enjoy watching her

I saw the Pova match. She couldn’t hit her BH so she called it quits. She could have done the classier thing and let Parmentier have a clean win, but class is not her style.

No words.....just Major 'Eye Roll'........................

Azarenka cruised against Ajla. Svitolina lost the first set, she might go down against Gasparyan.

its all over the media we all know that the media hates the sisters and will do anything to put them down.I aam just glad she lost to a nice young lady who will not talk bad about them.

Match of the future out on Court 18. Yastremska battles to take the first set. Kenin hanging in there though. I thought this could be a tough one for Kenin. Seeded now after Wimbledon. But Yastremska has also had a nice year and is of course hungry.

Halep/Buzarnescu has been every bit as competitive as I thought it might be. Both struggling to hold. Halep found a hold and break to finish off the first set. But Buzarnescu with the upper hand early in the second. Halep with a break point to draw level. And she takes it. 4-4. You'd think from here it'd be Halep to finish it out. But ya never know.

And so Buzarnescu does flip the script. We'll have a third set. Strong hold, with a couple Halep errors to help out. But a really solid break to serve for it.

Vika/Barty whoopin some tail out on Court 17. I've barely even heard of the other ladies.

Kenin holds out to take the second set. To a third we go.

Halep with a break point to start the second (after holding) but Buzarnescu gets it to deuce.
