Djoker serving for a straight sets win, but apparently not an esp. convincing performance today, per the commies.

I just caught the end of his match this morning. Cahill said he will need to improve in the later rounds. That is fine by me, I am happy he did finish this match in 3 sets, considering how late it was. A good rest is what he needs the most.

He expended so much energy against Paire that he can't stand up straight. :(
While Paire will always be a tough customer on HC, not to be able to defeat Popyrin for Thiem is a very bad performance. If he was injured would be another story, but to be spent is unacceptable, mainly because he hardly played this year.

I think I am always gonna feel bad for Goffin. Like... he's got game. And he's speedy. Not necessarily the most fun to watch. But I'm a fan. But he's just so small. Like, against the vast majority of folks he's good enough. Hence the top 10 and 20. But Copil right now just has the extra umph. Of course, Copil has found another level the last year or so and may be seeded here in the next couple of slams. So Goffin isn't playing some also ran. But he's still no top 10 player. And Goffin just... even if he comes back to win. It's gonna be a struggle. He just doesn't have that extra power boost. Which on the one hand it's like, he's gotten as far as he has without it and that's awesome. Kudos to him. He's hit above his station. On the other hand it just feels completely unfair. Even though that's dumb. It just... is. It is what it is.

Idk. Poor guy. (I mean. You can't feel too bad for him because ya know, he's not poor financially. And his stress level should be pretty low. He makes a million or hundreds of thousands a year to hit a ball around.)

He survived in 4; impressive nonetheless! Love his game even though the power level isn't there!:yesyes::p:rolleyes: :ptennis:

I know ow why you say that. Because your boy sucks indoors as well.
Obviously, they had to close the roof, but then I was wondering if it then has to stay closed, even if it stops raining. I say that because it's an outdoor event, and we're rules nerds around here.

Ya, but you know what will happen to him. Two consecutive five setter win and then followed by a loss.

He needs to learn to escape with a victory without spending himself in early rounds. Otherwise, he has no chance.

I now fully expect Coric to reach the semis just looking at the draw.

He has an easy third rounder at least but then Raonic. The problem is, even if well rested, I would expect Milos to beat him at a major at this point.
I also expect Raonic to beat Zverev at the next round. And such result should not be considered an upset even if Raonic has lower hanking.

Tsitsipas takes the first, 6-3. I'm watching the other Greek at the moment, Sakkari, but saw the scores. Basilashvili had a break back point when Stephanos was serving for it, but he held on.

Same here, watching the ladies on Laver, just checked the results. Diego Schwartzman wins the first set over Tomas.

By the scores, both men's matches look to be the battles they're meant to be. Quick WTA moment: I like Sakkari for her flair, but she makes some poor choices. Barty more solid. But I'm putting Sakkari on my "like" list. She's young.
