For young chaps like him recovery won't be an issue. He would be at a disadvantage while facing Rafa not because of that, but because of pure difference in skill level.
Which is basically what I said. So did Martina, btw.

I did not see the match. But, I am happy that he was forced to go to the distance and win (as opposed to winning in straight sets). He surely cannot win in straight sets (if at all he could manage to win) and so going to the distance and winning before would give him some mental confidence when he is down.

I would give D-minor better chances of beating Ralph than probably anyone else left standing in his quarter. That is not to say D-minor will win.

Zero shot man. When have you seen a tiny pusher give Nadal problems at a major? I don't consider Berd or Dimitrov big threats but they are bigger threats than D-minor at this point.

Nads got a pancake draw, it happens. Roger's draw is far from brutal and that's why I'm not complaining. Cilic hasn't played great in awhile so respectable tennis sees Roger in the semis with little problem. Bad and headcase tennis and he will have problems going far. He's just got to take care of business.

I said at Wimbledon last year that the next 18 months would determine his legacy. It's now down to 12 months. He's got to keep the peasant at bay this year or he's playing with fire. 20 is nothing if Nadal gets his fangs into a few more.

Has more MPH's on the serve. Blame the opponent if you like, but I thought Rafa looked pretty darn good. Also of note, his girlfriend is in attendance, where she usually doesn't make the trip, esp. this early. Maybe a lucky charm to change his fortunes Down Under. :dance1:
He may have added a few more MPH to his serve but his serve does not look any bit more effective than we have seen over the years.

Look, everyone with a brain agreed that Roger had the rougher one of the 3, but no need to start with "pancake" or cupcake. The basic issue is who really threatens them. The 3 are still odd's on better favored than anyone else. Who would you have liked to see in Rafa's quarter? Stan? Cilic is one of the better offerings, and he's in the Nadal half. Del Potro's not playing. No one else has won a Major that's not retired. De Miñaur is a young threat, and he's what you've got, for now.

I do think the young ‘uns after a 5 set match do seem to get more mental fatigue, but yes at his age the physical body will bounce back quickly like Gumby...

Just read that Opelka is now joint tallest with Karlovic in professional tennis., which relegates Isner to third tallest.

And Karlovic wins the 3rd set against K. Nishikori.

Stan looks good. Won a set where he was mostly outplayed until the TB

Dr. Ivo steals the 3rd and 4th sets by breaking at 5-5. On serve in the decider 1-1

Can someone explain to me why is Roger's draw harder than Novak's?
I never said so myself. The reason could be that no one expects Wawrinka to get back close to his best.

You are behaving like our president.

That is not the only thing you said. You clearly said "he may not recover so well". Go back and read your post.

I objected to it.

Good for Milos for not getting rattled after losing the break advantage in the second set .
