Isner is gone in 4 TB's; typical! Old man Berdych took care of Edmund in straight sets! I thought he was on the slide with Kyle going up!
In fairness to Kyle, he clearly has knee issues. But Berdy did look better than he has in 2 years.

So weird that they can't help but speak of Andy in the past tense.

I have since the end of 2016 when he pushed himself in those late tourneys to overtake Nole for #1! His hip was already in pain, now he's limping away! Was it worth it? IMO the same thing will happen to Nadal! That silly defensive style is conducive to this occurring; "ask Michael Chang!" I believe he needed hip replacements!

I'm wondering if Murray would have been better announcing his retirement later - it's got to give his opponents a huge psychological boost.

It's gotta be a combo...he's freed from pressure, and he'll also get crowd support that he's never had.

Definitely getting big crowd support against RBA, although he does tend to get a reasonable level of support here in Oz anyway.

Tbh I can't remember the last time he beat anyone remotely good so doubt it makes much difference.

RBA gets the break. Murray beginning to look a little ragged. Even if he does get through this, then it'll be a war of attrition and he's going to be feeling it pretty badly.

Djoker probably - at the end of 2016

Looks like he went from world number one to retirement without much in between. Gives a new meaning to going into retirement on the high point of your career.

RBA will win this pretty easily it seems.

Yep, can't see any way back for Murray in this.

2017 looked to be the beginning of the Murray-Djokovic era, and that all fell apart. At least Djokovic came back. But Murray fell off of the planet. Seriously, is his one of the sharpest drops from #1 to #785 or whatever he got down to? Really too bad.

IF Murray overdid it at the end of 2016 to take the YE1 the question is whether it was worth it. It is a big scalp but he would have gotten the no1 ranking the next year at some point anyways. Health goes a long way even if you are close to such an achievement.
