Dimi was too passive when he had the lead. Shouldv'e won this match in straights. Had a break lead in each of the first 3 sets.

I've been neutral on Dimi stock for a long time. I almost considered buying it after the ATP finals last year. If he gets rolled by a Stan just coming back from injury and not yet confident I might have to consider shorting his ass.
Go short my friend!

Novak playing Tennys tomorrow. What has he been up to? Haven’t seen him since the AO. Campaigning for Trump? :lightning:

Sandgren was spotted in a white supremacist rally.

I'm still hesitant in thinking Stan will do much here. He seems to have trouble playing more than a couple matches in a row. If he keeps in Stanimal mode he could clearly make some noise here and at least reach the QF but I bet young Greek or Isner does him in.

I only saw a little of that match, but I agree it's too early to expect a deep run from him. I'll spare a moment to express my ongoing disgust at Dimitrov's performance. (You made some recent remark about congratulating him on the completion of his vaginal construction surgery...it was classic rude Darth, but it made me laugh my butt off. Though I have subsequently had it reconstructed. :lulz2:)

@Federberg I guess they didn't want to pay for 10 years when they're not expecting him to be active that long. I agree. Kind of a dumb move. They still pay Jordan and he's been retired for years.

I agree. That is smart of Fed (or his team) to change sponsors now and sign up for 10 year contract, considering he may be out there only for two more years. He would not have much leverage in negotiating new contracts after he hangs up the racquet.

Also, uniqlo makes only clothes and so Roger still will be getting some money from Nike for wearing their shoes. Don't know the details. May be will dig into it after the tourney.

Stan needs more time for his shots. His winning here basically is a good news for Nadalites. The ball is sitting up often today waiting to get spanked. I have never seen people getting this much amount of time on grass.

Commies saying it's playing fast, so who knows. But the weather is in Rafa's favor. Pretty hot for London the next 10 days, and nothing higher than 40% chance of rain any day. We'll take it.

I wish I could take credit for that one but it wasn't me. Grigor has reverted to what he always was before 2017. Can't say I'm surprised. Just wait until after Cincy and YEC, he will drop out of the top 20 in a hurry.

The amount of breaks today seemed absurd. I know it's the first round and there are a lot of complete mismatches but still. We got to hope for the best, and the best is when Rafa receives his annual Wimbledon guillotine.

Because...it's like I always say - players get hyped to play Roger and play far above their normal level. Then they're back to playing everybody else and they're back to being mediocre. Guys don't get hyped super-hyped to play Nadal, Djokovic (except for Chung) or Murray - just Roger.
Hey, Busted...good to see you around. I would disagree that players only get up for playing Roger. There are plenty of journeymen or lesser-lights who have won the big upset against Rafa and have little else to show for it. Can I offer you Lukas Rosol? Steve Darcis? Coric has beaten Rafa and Roger, but can't put it together to be a world-beater. (In fairness, he had a surgery in the last year.) I haven't catalogued the Djokovic ones, but everyone has been taking pot-shots at him, lately.

Who else on here is rude and funny by equal parts? (Could have been Front, I guess, though he isn't as funny. Rude, yes.) Dimitrov is impossible. I've given up long ago, but I'd sure hate to be his coach.

A couple of under-card matches to look out for might be:

Ebden v. Goffin
Kyrgios v Istomin
Daniel v Fognini
Chardy v Shapo?

I remember the quote but forget if it was Front, Fberg or even Busted. It was a classic though

I gave up on Dimitrov at slam level after AO this year. He followed up a high level win over Kyrgios with a vintage terrible loss to Edmund in the QF. I'm surprised he won a couple big tourneys last year even if they were ones where Fedal wasn't around in the end.
