I am watching the results recorded by some of the talented young players and I just saw what kind of beatdown Felix Auger Aliassime has taken at Budapest. FAA lost 0-6, 2-6 to a French player ranked 332. Ouch.

Is it just me or does anyone think D.thiem is the next Nadal A player that's going to start by winning the FO then go on and dominate the sport later in he's career. D.thiem slam record could look something like this. AO- 1title. FO- 6 titles . WC- 1title. USO- 3 titles

Not happening. Not just he will not win slams on any surfaces aside clay, but he will not be clay king either.

Herios I Disagree Nadal the only one that's better than D.Thiem on clay right now. but then Nadal retires No one will be good a enough to stop thiem. Also did you see that thiem did to djokovic last year at the FO I have ever seen djokovic get beaten down that badly. And thiem one of the best movers on the court right now.

Well, up till now I guess I was the greatest "believer" in Thiem around here but "new Nadal" is surely too much. What I think is that he is by very far the best clay courter of the younger players and the only guy I can have a relative confidence will reach #1 and win multiple majors. He surely won't show the same kind of dominance the big three has shown, but no one will anyway.

Strong words, @mrzz - didn't know you expected so much from Thiem. I personally have more confidence in Zverev and Shapo to reach those heights. I'm not saying Thiem won't win multiple majors--especially if Rafa drops off in the next year or two--or even be #1, as there is no clear future great on the cusp. As I have been predicting for years, the next era of the ATP is likely going to be a bit of a "Wild West" with a bunch of Slam winners and rotating #1s...at least for awhile. Of course the resurgence of Fedal has put that on hold for the time being, but time's movement is inevitable...

Since a month ago, when Tiafoe turned 20, there are just two teenagers in the top 100,:
Shapovalov and Tsitsipas.
I was thinking who will be the next teenager to join the elite?
The top 3 all within the 100 -150 range are Ruud, De Minaur and Moutet .
Dear Minaur had a good January, now Moutet is on the move.
Let's see who will be the next one.

Thinking that a new Nadal is coming up on his heels is ridiculous. I like Thiem. I think he's sturdy. But I don't think there will be a King of Clay to replace Nadal in the near future. It took 30 years for Nadal to replace Borg. Thiem is the most promising on clay, for now, until Djokovic comes back. But I do think he has promise on other surfaces, too.

Is that the some as Nadal Already great on clay thiem semis FO 16, 17. And promising on other surfaces thiem already better than djokovic on clay he rolled over djokovic in straight sets last year FO. I have never seen djokovic get beaten down that badly on clay that was awesome. Plus thiem is one of the best movers on court right now he is also better than baby fed.

A good bit of that was incomprehensible to me, sorry. But Thiem couldn't beat Djokovic and Nadal in a row, two tournaments running. He may be the next best clay player when Rafa is done, but he will never be the next King of Clay. I think we can make book on that. The next Great clay courter is surely a player-to-be-named-later.

I'd be shocked if he wins more than 1 major. He may win RG mainly because there is only one strong player there this year and possibly for the next couple and as strong as Nadal is crazy things can happen. But H2H on clay at RG even age 32-35 I'd bet the house and all the money in it on Nadal over Thiem. The latter gets vastly overrated on this board, he hasn't shown a thing yet and there are younger and more talented guys out there.

Well I think D.thiem will Make the FO final this year losing to Nadal. Also Thiem is clearly Already better than Federer on clay and more a complete player than baby fed, also all the other next gen players. Well maybe not the Aussie nick.Kygios but rest of the next gen far better.

Roger won't play on clay but if he does he will be the second favorite by default. Also Thiem is not a complete player, he's only good on one surface.

True federer would second favorite at FO if he plays. in terms of the other surfaces I have No case right now because thiem done nothing so you are right for now. But if thiem was to play Federer on clay this would happen 6-4 7-6 6-1 straight sets to thiem

Ummm, no. You're a weird chap, in one sentence you acknowledge Thiem is no world beater and in the next one he'd destroy Federer. Yes, even Roger at 36 and rusty on clay would probably take Thiem.

OK so you said that thiem is only good on one Surface then I said you are right for now. But I never said thiem was not the next king of clay which he is or that Federer would beat thiem. I was talking about the other surfaces not clay. I still think Thiem is the awesome on clay but I only said thiem would beat federer because he's really rusty on clay but if Federer plays he's best then yes he would beat thiem. I guess it is just me then it comes it thiem
