Congrats to TMF on reaching the milestone of 10,000 aces.:clap::clap:

He is now third in the list of ace leaders. Karlovic and Goran being the other two.

Fed wins the first set with a break to begin the set and another one to end the set. 6-3 in 27 minutes.

Federer and Djokovic had very short workouts today.

Dolgopolov retires. Why are there so many retirements in the first 2 days of Wimbledon?

Because a first round loss gets $45,250. These players are injured coming into the tournament and they shouldn't even play if they're that injured.

Because you get paid 40,000 dollars if you show up on the court and then retire. They need to do something about this.

So I'm thinking they'll move an upcoming match to Center Court now.

They will put Caro on CC. In Wimbledon, they always keep couple of matches in a bucket (court to be determined), just waiting to be moved to big courts when opportunity arises.

Yeah, so many retirements! I wonder.

I would think this is okay for Roger. Not a big deal about the match duration. I think he has enough match practice already going forward. And a short match means saving of energy.

I see. I could play a bit of tennis, get knocked out early in most of the tournaments, and still make more than $600 000 in a year.

1. The pay off is much less in ordinary tourneys. Only in GSs, you get paid a lot.
2. You should be ranked high enough to get into the MD in the first place and it is not easy.

Maybe.

Roger served really well and was returning some serves. And, a few good points here and there. He could have still been better. But, we will see more of that going forward hopefully.

I think what Murat means is that a match against Dog would not really of much help to you towards practice (as he gives no rhythm) and so not much is lost due to his early retirement.

That would be right. But, any opponent and any win over an opponent gives a good feel. And Roger at least had a workout. And his body will come into a rhythm. It would be good to play for 3 sets but this gives him time to rest too. So, it's ok. Not much lost.

It seems that some players are showing to get some money even that they are injured. Dolgo has already 5 retirements in a row and Klizan had some problems in RG too. We'll see Nishi, Raonic and someone else how long are going to play because they always have some kind of injury but they always are playing the next tournament.

Former upsetters (Brown, Rosol, Stakhovsky, Darcis) have all cleared the first round.

Of course some Novak's fans are included in that package. Did you cry too much when Querrey took Novak out in Wimbledon, Istomin in the AO and Thiem in RG? it seems there is a lot of competition now, isn't?

Do I cry when Djokovic loses? Do you? My goodness.

I really don't mind if he loses, it's part of the game. I do like it though when Djokovic wins.
