It helps both of them really. Because Monfils gets a good night sleep and only has to play best of 3 tomorrow after his other long matches.

It'd also help if Roger could hit a first serve in once in awhile.

Unbelievable check Fed's 2nd set serve stats. Less than 50% of first serves landing properlty.
To add insult to injury less than 50% of first serve pts won as well. That is one hell of a poor
combination.

Roger's biggest mistake there was not doing enough with his volleys, especially the angled one that he didn't hit hard enough as Monfils is very fast and he should've known he'd run that one down.

I usually am no? On the flip side Roger is hitting well and getting a lot of returns in play. If he gets by Monfils he should be able to take out Stan playing like this. The net play gifted that set to Monfils.

It helps both of them really. Because Monfils gets a good night sleep and only has to play best of 3 tomorrow after his other long matches.

Monfils should be the beneficiary because he gets more rest for his allergies and so much time he has self-inflicted on himself this week. (Plus the coach can get him to try to move Fed and play higher % points. Fed gets a chance to reflect and regroup about what went astray the beginning and end of the 2nd set.

I usually am no? On the flip side Roger is hitting well and getting a lot of returns in play. If he gets by Monfils he should be able to take out Stan playing like this. The net play gifted that set to Monfils.

Yeah you are , I don't always agree with your assessment of Roger's game vs you know who but this is about today match vs Monfils, spot on
