I don't know if it is that he doesn't care, like the announcers are saying, but he looks exhausted.

He has allergies all week apparently.

Congratulations to Roger. Not only he won, he came out of the match spending less physical and emotional energies, which is important at his age.

Exactly. The last thing he needed today was to get caught up in another five-setter with Monfils, like the US Open.

It may turn out that the rain delay has made his life easier. Who woulda thunk it! I really wasn't happy yesterday when Gael go the 2nd set, and I thought the extra day would just turn it into a 3 set krap-shoot. But the old man came out and did the bizz today :)

Monfils should be pissed off about the court change, all the momentum was going his way after being mostly outplayed for the whole match. I feel like he only needed one more break to take the match.

Meanwhile Roger should be furious about that last service game. Monfils got lucky in a few places (he must have hit about 6 lines in the last several games), but the net flubs really hurt him (he was overhitting them b/c that dropshot get was still in his head).

A bit of a strange match actually. Roger was winning a lot of long rallies, and Monfils was hitting a lot of winners. One would have thought the reverse would be true.

Was the match played on Lenglen? I didn't realise :puzzled

Now that you mention it, I'm not sure why he added a comment about a court change. I thought it was on Chatrier. The official schedule on their website even lists it that way.

Lol! If it was on Lenglen, and Roger instigated that, then I wouldn't disagree with Fed-bashers getting on his case! :D But hard to see that happening to be honest. In a match like that I'm sure equal weight would have been given to Gael, and he probably wanted the match over soonest too

Yup. I just took it foregranted. And correct me if I'm wrong, Murray was scheduled for Lenglen and their matches overlapped

Murray breaks and takes a 2-1 lead in the fourth! So why can't I relax? :-/

And why can't I post this in the right forum?

I just quickly checked video on YouTube of his match yesterday, and compared it to videos of others on Lenglen and Chatrier. As far as I can tell, Roger was on Chatrier yesterday and today.

The match was on Philippe on both days. There was no court change in the middle.

Monfils went into full clown mode in the 4th set but overall I really liked how Roger is hitting from the baseline. The break from yesterday helped him get his serve back and maybe cost Monfils some momentum...but those are the breaks. I was wrong in thinking all the QF's were Wednesday, the bottom half plays tomorrow so it was good that Roger got done in a quick 2 sets today.

He probably doesn't even have to go out on the practise court now! :D Job done..

^ Good, I hear it plays faster which should help vs. Stan. I think Stan has a better chance vs. Roger on slow courts where Roger can't get him out of position as easily.

^That's a bit faster. I'm not sure that's a good thing against Stan. That match is probably more about what goes on in Stan's mind than anything else. Of course if Roger is in TMF mode then it's a no brainer, but that's a once in a blue moon thing these days
