Anyway, on subject - I would like Murray to win but if I was a betting man I'd go with Djokovic in 3 or 4.

As far as racism, I do not think there is a Czech race, so maybe it is not racist. However, when you bring a person's ethnicity and country into the mix, you are going beyond the individual and insulting a whole group of people. No need for that. Keep it personal. I am sure she would be outraged if someone called Murray "You Scottish F&*%", no?

If you're barracking players loudly or coaching then I agree with you... but in Sears case, it was more like she mumbled something that the person in the seat behind wasn't even likely to hear.

Have to agree with that. What Mirka did was Djokovic-parent level (when he was a rookie) nonsense. Uncle Toni's coaching is one of the most under-discussed and disgusting things in men's tennis. Kim Sears did nothing like any of that. People should just move on. Embarrassing letting the media lead sensible people by the nose. No story there, move on..

I remember in 2009 I was in Dubai watching the tournament, and David Ferrer's then coach invited me to sit right behind him as I was speaking to him in Spanish and for some reason that blew his mind. To say that coaching was going on would be an understatement (such as where to direct the ball, hit through the forehand, etc...). I guess you can claim it's a Spanish tradition, and they're the only ones who do it. I think it would be extremely naive to think coaches just sit there quietly all match and the only reason players look at them is for encouragement. Please.

"People" is too general. Like everything, it is often fans of opposing players nit-picking and grasping at straws. Everybody is guilty of this in fairness, including Nadal fans.

But I agree, "disgusting" is an absolutely laughable way to put it.

It's a habit, and Rafa has said that in the heat of battle he's mostly unaware of it, and when he is, it's more confusing than anything. As you say, they all do it. With some, it's called exhortations or encouragement. It doesn't win big titles for anyone. Plus, it's like anything to do with Rafa, it gets exaggerated by people who can't stand him. Eventually this kind of baloney gathers the legs of rumour and becomes dogma...
