If Andy and Fed are in the same group, it won't matter much in London. Fed can beat the crap out of Andy and end up #1 in his group, while Andy will most probably facing Novak (the winner of the other group) in the semifinals if he ends up #2 in his group.

It's probably possible now that Rafa, Roger and Novak will be in the same group, isn't it?

Yeah, that should finally put an end to this dreadful season for Rafa.

Rafael Nadal attacks: ´It´s unfair that I played ATP Finals always on indoor hard-court´

'It's unfair that I played ATP Finals always on hard-court indoor, but the results got on all the surfaces allows us to have a chance to qualify. Playing indoor doesn't concern me, but we could have played on different surfaces than hard. ATP never gave me a good chance to win the Masters'

Is there anything Nadal doesn't whine about? That's like saying i's unfair that the French Open is always in France. It's winter...and it's cold. Where else would it be if not indoors in a European or American city that can afford to host it? How would he like it everyone complained that the French Open is always on clay? You didn't hear Roger complaining the 4 finals he lost to Nadal. Or people complaining that Wimbledon is always on grass and doggonit, Roger's won it 7 times and been in 10 finals. And you didn't hear Nadal complaining about that the 9 times he won the French on his beloved clay. Just STHU and learn to play indoors like every other great champion has. Sheesh.

Not to crap on Andy's achievement...but he did play 2 more tournaments than Roger (19 to 17), so he SHOULD have finished ahead of him. Right now he leads Roger by 1,130 points The two tourneys were both Masters 1000 events - Miami and Toronto - and he made the final in both, winning Toronto (1,000 points) and losing Miami (600 points). Since he hasn't beaten Roger in nearly 3 years (2013 Aussie Open), and they'd most likely have been on the same side of the draw, he actually owes his #2 spot to Roger for NOT playing those 2 1000 events. So thank the old guy for needing to rest more often, Andy! LOL!

Same old Wafa. He is a joke. Tell me, what sense does it make to have a bunch of warm-up tournaments indoors and then go play on outdoor clay a couple weeks later for the main event?

I'd say the ATP and their surface changes have been more than kind to him over the years. If they played on the old grass he'd be sitting on more early exits at Wimbledon and he'd be lucky to win one let alone 2. US Open has noticeably slowed down, Australian Open plays on a surface that takes his spin better, etc. And if Roger was playing on grass actually suited for him I don't think he'd only have 7 titles there. Poor little Whafa has been so hurt by the ATP and their surfaces. One more bad year please...knock the bich out of the sport!!

Marry me, please! :lolz: I am so sick of Nadal whining about surfaces. You don't hear Roger whining because every tournament slowed their courts down because he was winning everything from 2004-2006 (and into 2007), do you? He may mention that the courts are slower, but he doesn't harp on it the way Nadal does. Others could ask - why are there so many clay court touraments? The point of all the different surfaces is to test the players skills. It's not to molly coddle a select few. This is almost as annoying as the time Nadal wanted a 2-year ranking system because HE was injured all the time. :eyepop

Roger lost another chunk of points. Points ain't gonna come by any easier next year

Same is going to be true of Murray - and everybody else. I don't even necessarily think it's that Nole is so much better than everybody else. I think everybody else is just mediocre - or in Roger's case...old. :laydownlaughing Roger can't seem to break in the big matches to save his life and just can't seem to get over the hump anymore. Stan can't concentrate for more than a 1 or 2 week stretch each year. Nadal can't find his game and was never that dominant off clay anyway. Murray is the classic under-achiever and needs to stop being so damned passive and learn to play more offensively. Ferrer - almost as old as Roger and not enough weapons or firepower. Berdych...too one dimensional. Nishikori is a younger Ferrer and a wuss who's always got some half-ass injury. The next tier of guys makes me laugh just thinking about them challenging for Slams or anything else - Gasquet, Tsonga, Cilic, Simon, Isner, Raonic, Anderson - and I'll throw in Dimitrov. The wannabe - Coric, Kygios, Thiem, Sock, Kokkinakis, Chung - ain't anywhere near ready yet. With this competition - Nole should win the Grand Slam next year.

I'm so sick about the negative comments about Nadal from his antis and just because they are fans of someone else....talking about who is a joke.....they can't be quite even during his worst times
I'm sure that not too far he is going to give them more than one upset and then, what they are going to say? :popcorn  :speechless:

Most of it's just that, Carol, illogical anti-Rafa BS. The WTF is played on a very slow indoor court today, and twenty years ago it was unrecognisably fast. It's a different surface, for all intents and purpose, and it has been played outdoors, and outside Europe and America. When eventually it gets sold to Whomever and they play it indoors on blue clay, there won't be a squeak out of anybody about "tradition" because Rafa will be long gone by then... :popcorn

Before Rafa talked about it I said many times before (and many others tennis followers) that that tournament should be played every year on different surface including grass, fair is fair :-/

I don't actually agree with that, because I think indoor tennis is under-represented on the tour, and slow indoor tennis is just an anomaly to me, kinda like slow grass. And yeah, I know Rafa might struggle on fast grass. It isn't about favourite players, it's about variety in the tour and in the styles of play. It's just gotten perverse and outta hand with every surface playing the same, more or less. Little wonder then that the same players are winning every week, every month, and every year.

Believe it or not, I'd prefer the WTF to be played on a lightning quick indoor court, like it used to be. There's no point in putting a roof on a hard court, calling it an "indoor court" and expect us to think it's an "indoor court" like the ones they used to play on. :Nono

It isn't, and this is why appeals to the history of the WTF are misguided and misleading, as well as prone to inaccuracy...

I understand your point, and besides that after to play several matches in HC indoor should be tough to change the surface and more playing on clay or grass. But because they call it 'The final' and only 8 players are qualificated then it would be good too to see them playing in different surfaces

They have played on different surfaces, and they will again, so what Rafa is suggesting isn't so far-fetched, but on this one, I disagree with him...

This is indoor tennis season so it would make no sense to play the WTF on anything other than an indoor court. That said, the court is way too slow the last few years. If they changed the surface to clay Djokovic or Wawrinka would win it anyway.

Are you saying that since now Novak and Wawinka are going to win in all surfaces? I doubt it

No, I meant just on clay. But they have to keep it indoor hard court. This part of the season is indoor and suddenly changing to a completely different surface would be a total mess as nobody would have practiced on it for months. The way things are now is fair on everyone as the rest of the season featured slams on the other surfaces. This is the biggest indoor event and therefore rightly deserves its own tournament, which some consider the 5th slam.
