If Andy and Fed are in the same group, it won't matter much in London. Fed can beat the crap out of Andy and end up #1 in his group, while Andy will most probably facing Novak (the winner of the other group) in the semifinals if he ends up #2 in his group.

'It's unfair that I played ATP Finals always on hard-court indoor, but the results got on all the surfaces allows us to have a chance to qualify. Playing indoor doesn't concern me, but we could have played on different surfaces than hard. ATP never gave me a good chance to win the Masters'

I'd say the ATP and their surface changes have been more than kind to him over the years. If they played on the old grass he'd be sitting on more early exits at Wimbledon and he'd be lucky to win one let alone 2. US Open has noticeably slowed down, Australian Open plays on a surface that takes his spin better, etc. And if Roger was playing on grass actually suited for him I don't think he'd only have 7 titles there. Poor little Whafa has been so hurt by the ATP and their surfaces. One more bad year please...knock the bich out of the sport!!

I'm sure that not too far he is going to give them more than one upset and then, what they are going to say? :speechless:
Kieran said:I don't actually agree with that, because I think indoor tennis is under-represented on the tour, and slow indoor tennis is just an anomaly to me, kinda like slow grass. And yeah, I know Rafa might struggle on fast grass. It isn't about favourite players, it's about variety in the tour and in the styles of play. It's just gotten perverse and outta hand with every surface playing the same, more or less. Little wonder then that the same players are winning every week, every month, and every year.
Believe it or not, I'd prefer the WTF to be played on a lightning quick indoor court, like it used to be. There's no point in putting a roof on a hard court, calling it an "indoor court" and expect us to think it's an "indoor court" like the ones they used to play on. :Nono
It isn't, and this is why appeals to the history of the WTF are misguided and misleading, as well as prone to inaccuracy...

I understand your point, and besides that after to play several matches in HC indoor should be tough to change the surface and more playing on clay or grass. But because they call it 'The final' and only 8 players are qualificated then it would be good too to see them playing in different surfaces
Front242 said:This is indoor tennis season so it would make no sense to play the WTF on anything other than an indoor court. That said, the court is way too slow the last few years. If they changed the surface to clay Djokovic or Wawrinka would win it anyway.

Are you saying that since now Novak and Wawinka are going to win in all surfaces? I doubt it
