Has anyone given a thought that if Ferrer by any chance were to beat Stan in 2, and Stan were to beat Andy, he would most likely make it to the semis, since he took Andy to 3 sets, and Andy himself lost to Nadal in 2 sets --- just sayin'

I can actually see both of those scenarios occurring. I said before the tournament began I didn't expect Ferrer to win a single match but having seen how little Stan seems to care here then I may have just changed my mind. PS: haven't even glanced at this match on now, nor do I care who wins. Seems though that Ferrer gives all he's got most of the time which is the polar opposite of Stan "let me go home now please and put me out of my misery" Wawrinka. The stupid glares to his box and his general facial expressions of whoa is me wreck my head.

Stan doesn't care much for this tournament by the look of things but Murray's awol with DC on his mind it seems and was practicing on clay before this so Stan "the most disinterested man in the world" may actually win if he even tried.

well seems stan has woken up.. he broke Ferrer serving for the set, and now has broken him again to lead 6-5 and now Stan himself is serving for the set..

Genuinely surprised but still a long way to go.

So let me try fathom the perms on this one:

If Stan wins this in straights, the winner between Stan and Murray goes through as runner/up in the group, and Rafa is through automatically already as the group winner?

And if Ferrer wins in 3, then Murray needs to defeat Stan to progress, and even a Ferrer victory over Rafa in straights would send Little Beast home?

So Rafa has won the group, has he?

Nadal has won the group; but now it's a straight shootout at OK corral between Stan and Andy

It's a match between who wants it less. I guess I'll root for Stan so Murray can just get on with it in Belgium. It's where he wants to be obviously anyways. So we'll have a Djoko-Rafa and Fed-Stan SF. Sounds good to me.

I'm hoping Murray wins but I think it will be Stan. I think the only scenario where Roger doesn't end up as #1 in his group is if he loses to Nishikori and Berd beats Djokovic. Is that correct?

I don't see why they both wouldn't badly want it, given that they've never won it before. Last year old Wodge reached the final here then won the DC the following week. And he's a hundred and three years old. Andy's a mere nipper by comparison. I don't think he'd be wise or comfortable to go half-hearted at this match with Stan.

And Stan has found his range. I think their match will be the best match of the RR cycle...

Reaching the final here takes only a handful of matches but he had a tricky match with Stan and then couldn't even play the final. Some crap tournament it was here last year. Andy can easily play both and do well at both if he tries.

Keeping to the form of the round robin, I think Stan wins in straights.

Surprising results though after how poor Wawrinka and Nishikori were in their last matches, they both won their next one. Though I've said multiple times I didn't expect Ferrer to win a match, I was thinking if the disinterested Stan from his last match turned up today, Ferrer would win. But in keeping with his most inconsistent of the top 10, Stan of course wins in straight sets. The guy's a total headcase.

Not so fast.. If Berdych wins and Fed looses to Nishikori. Djoker's immaculate tennis season is over.

Is that correct?

There's a slim chance of either happening in all honesty. If the court was faster I'd give Nishikori a shot against Roger if he served well and Roger served badly but that requires one to play very well and the other not. Berdych on the other hand is not beating Djokovic under any circumstances on this court.

IF that scenario do you think Fed will tank the match vs Kei

If Berdych played Djokovic first and happened to beat him by some miracle then yeah I guess Roger might out of spite spray a few wide and pretend he was upset and say shanks for watching everyone and bye bye Novak and your dream season. Stranger things have happened :snicker But this won't and can't happen and Djokovic and Berdych play first anyway.
