There's a slim chance of either happening in all honesty. If the court was faster I'd give Nishikori a shot against Roger if he served well and Roger served badly but that requires one to play very well and the other not. Berdych on the other hand is not beating Djokovic under any circumstances on this court.

IF that scenario do you think Fed will tank the match vs Kei

If Berdych played Djokovic first and happened to beat him by some miracle then yeah I guess Roger might out of spite spray a few wide and pretend he was upset and say shanks for watching everyone and bye bye Novak and your dream season. Stranger things have happened :snicker But this won't and can't happen and Djokovic and Berdych play first anyway.

Fed is not playing first by chance. They always try to schedule the matches on the last two days of the RR to prevent tanking (to the extent they can).

So Nishi played bad and disinteresed, Berdych played bad for the same reason, Wawrinka seemed that he wasn't to be there, very disinterested too ( and that was probably why he smashed the racket so furious :snicker) Novak was not too motived and that's why he gave the match to Roger and Muzz doesn't want to play there because he wants to play well the DC......:laydownlaughing :laydownlaughing :laydownlaughing :lolz: :lolz: :lolz: :popcorn :popcorn :eyepop :p :cover

From Murray's presser:

"Obviously for a few months this year he was struggling for form a little bit," Murray told reporters. "But I think almost every player goes through that at some stage during their career. I think a lot of the media had a lot of doubts about him. I think a lot of the players still felt like, providing he stayed injury-free, that he would raise his game again and compete at the top of the game."

Murray mentions a lot of the media had a lot of doubts about him. Also, 90 % of this tennis board:nono

I am glad Roger gets a day off on Friday, before the two big matches on Sat and Sun. ;)

On the other hand the Nastase Groupies have to play for three days in a row, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. :devil

Don't think the day off matters much except to Roger who's the oldest there but even so it's only best of 3. Not a big deal. Still better for him to have it I guess than not. With the lack of testing in tennis you could down a double McEPO shake before the match and no one would care.

After four days, we've had eight singles matches and only one (Nishikori-Berdych) has gone to three sets. And zero tiebreaks. And the last four matches, I expect Fed, Nole, Rafa and Stan to win in straight sets as well. Disappointing to say the least. Maybe we'll see some good matches when the semifinals roll around.

Huge doubles match coming up later with the Bryan Brothers and Murray/Peers fighting to decide who goes to the semifinals. The Bryan Brothers won three Masters titles and six titles in all this year but missed out on the slams for the first time since 2004. They need to defend their WTF title to hold on to their No. 1 spot.

Yes, and? Rafa was basically sub-par for over a year, from grass court time last year until just a couple months ago...maybe 14-15 months? That's a lot of time, especially when you're 28-29 years old, so its completely reasonable that people were thinking he was fading away (by the way, when there was a poll about this some time ago, I voted for he'll bounce back a bit and win another Slam or two).

While it looks like Rafa is back at least to elite level, it remains to be seen for how long and, moreso, whether he can compete against Novak in a final. After their respective last performances this is the first time in ages that I actually think Rafa has a chance of taking Novak, but it still seems rather unlikely.

Let's wait for the Djokovic x Nadal semifinal. If Djokovic trashes Nadal 2 and 1, the collective mood flips back again...

I don't think anybody is thrashing Nadal any more. He will lose now and then like he has throughout his career, but the burners are back on and only a select few will be hanging with him from now on. I am tired of hearing about him being off--he isn't. His results since the US Open have been as good as any year since 2010, if not better.

I am only posting what Andy said, I think Murray is speaking Honestly. I think it's fair to say that even Rafa fans on this board truly don't believe he is at or near elite playing status.
