Are they (especially Ferrer0 likely to be fit to play at USO?

Ferrer said that his elbow was still a problem, don't know what to think about him. hope he can play and be fit again

Well, Ferrer is almost sure to lost his top 8 seeding at USO, as he ahs 600 points to denfend in Cincy which he cannot defend.

Maybe he's dropping out to help Rafa? :snicker

Good try at misrepresenting my argument. I never said that Ferrer dropped out of Wimbledon to help Rafa. Not only I never said, just so that people don't misrepresent me, I said explicitly that no professional player would drop out of a tourney to help another player. It was the timing of his withdrawal (an hour after the OOP is announced) that was the point of concern.

Oh it's been done! The one occasion I remember was back around '97 or '98! Sampras was trying to finish the season at #1 for the 6th time and he asked Boris Becker to drop out of the Paris indoor so he could have his WC! It was done, but Pete still lost in the 2nd round IIRC! He was able to hold onto the ranking, but it cost him what little hair he was trying to save! :dodgy: :p

Do you have a link to prove that statement?? Otherwise that's just a fabrication made up by an ex-feddie. :plot

Good try at getting an attempt at humour. :nono

Whatever you write about Rafa is irrelevant, because it's coming from you, and you're not objective.

But...I was kidding... :cover

Off the top of me head, 1998 Paris Indoor, Pete lost to Rusedski in the final.

Rusedski probably instantly declared it means he can win Wimbledon, but that's neither here nor there... :popcorn

Yeah, I just totally made it up! :cover :nono  - If you had looked, it was the following year where he won his 2nd round, but withdrew in the next!

I'm talking about your claim that Sampras asked Becker to drop out of the Paris Indoor. I did look that up and there is nothing there.

At the qualifying rounds in Cincy, it's Kokkinakis causing trouble with Harrison. What is it with the Australians lately?

Ben Rothenberg ‏@BenRothenberg 20m20 minutes ago Mason, OH
Kokkinakis-Harrison is getting NASTY. Mo Lahyani just leapt out of his chair to separate the two after the first set.

Backstory: Kokkinakis was enraged by Lahyani TWICE overruling Harrison would-be DFs on break points. Harrison didn't like the arguing…

…clean-cut all-American Harrison started muttering things mocking Kokkinakis (maybe in earshot?) about his "37 tattoos and 23 earrings"…

…then the two argued at changeover. Kokk thought Harrison called him a "prick," RH said he had just said "kid," which TK didn't like either.

Ben Rothenberg ‏@BenRothenberg 4m4 minutes ago
"Don't sledge me, mate! Don't sledge me, it's not cool." -Kokkinakis, muttering just now in slang that we all learned this week!

Ben Rothenberg ‏@BenRothenberg 57s57 seconds ago Mason, OH
After Mo separated them, Kokkinakis left for bathroom break and Ryan shouted "your whole crew is just so cool!" (presumably re: Kyrgios).

Heaven help us if these Aussie lads ever make a huge final togather and fall out during it:

Nick: yeah mate, I banged your girlfriend last night for a slice of toast.

Kokk: fair dinkum, mate, your old man is hitting the tinnies.

Nick: so what, mate? Your sister drove him to drink by being such a lousy lay.

Umpire: First game, Kyrgios to serve: Play!

Here are the USO Series leader after two of the four events are over.

1. Andy Murray (GBR) 100
2. John Isner (USA) 95
3. Novak Djokovic (SRB) 70
T4. Marcos Baghdatis (CYP) 45
Jeremy Chardy (FRA) 45
Kei Nishikori (JPN) 45
7. Gilles Muller (LUX) 40

Expect Big John to finish first when all is said and done, thanks to the rule of doubling a player's points if they participate in three or more events.

Tracy Austin accused Monfils of tanking against JJ. I only saw the point where he turned his back on JJ during a rally where Monfils had game point in the second, more or less forfeiting the point through lack of competitiveness. According to the report, Monfils was serving so fast the ballboys barely had time to gather the balls. She said it was more like an exo.

Anybody see this match?

Monfils 'disrepectful' in defeat

No, but I've seen that act before; from other players as well who are frustrated and not playing well! It's more common than you know! We've been spoiled by the professionalism of the top players, but most feel this way sometime! They just want to get off the court as soon as possible and couldn't care less how people feel about their efforts! :puzzled :nono  :dodgy:
