I'm glad you're not a doctor Darth!

Dr Darth: I've had a look at your results Mr Brown and you have an abominable chance of surviving this disease

Mr Brown: Gulp, so it's virtually incurable. Sob.

Dr Darth: Indeed. You have a meagre 50-68% chance of survival.

Mr Brown: (Eyes light up) 50-68%?? That's good isn't it? I'm a glass half-full kind of guy.

Dr Darth: Shut up. I'm calling the priest right now to administer the last rites.

Not seeing that analogy at all bro. You think winning 50% of GS finals is good or even OK? You think Djokovic is happy about a 6-6 record in the biggest matches of his life?

As for 68% note I didn't say it was bad but we are talking Rafa here. It's not exactly standout is it?

idk how you can say 68 is bad when you consider sampras is first on that list with 77%. then its fed borg and rafa. borg and rafa are pretty much same with borg 68.75% and rafa being 68.42%

To put it another way, I'd say a large percentage of teenage girls are mad about Justin Bieber but doesn't mean he's not completely $h1t :D

I just said it isn't bad, just isn't an amazing % IMO. Regardless it is about total won more than anything and you have to put yourself in position. Djokovic has continued to do a good job of that even after 2011 but since then has not taken much advantage, thus the very poor (IMO) 6-6.

Oh, Darth…don't make me give you everyone else's percentages. As for 68%…you did say it "wasn't good." And don't make me remind you of Rafa's winning percentage if he actually plays a Slam, which is better than Roger's. If there were only 50 players in the history of tennis, we might fine-tune these numbers and say some aren't so great. I kind of doubt it, though.

Borg's % of GS tournaments won is also probably better than Roger, but it wouldn't have been had he stuck around 5 years after his prime. We will see about Wafa's % at age 32 if he is still around.

The key is these things need to be graded on a curve. Sure, if you get a 68% in a class, that's a D. (Or whatever that translates to overseas.) But within the tiny community of multi-major winners, 68-70% is at least a B (assuming we give Sampras the A for his 77%).

What's a thread without a couple of nice pix?

This is as monumental as it gets!
#1 faces #2 for the top spot! Plus the lousy 2 Million!
:devil

This is as good as it's going to get. ATP fans and tennis fans in general will be in for a delight.

The best Part is Nole will take it away from Rafa in a 5 set classic.
I am sticking with my earlier call.

Good way to look at it Tented

B = Good
C = Fair

That's what people tried to teach us, just like 5th place teams in little league get a trophy. Some just choose to learn differently.

Yes, someone will get a shiny dinner plate and a crap load of money for losing a match on Sunday. So I'm not about to feel bad for any of them.

its been a while since the no1 rank has been up for grabs in a major final (it was not 2011 Wimbledon final, djokovic guaranteed no1 after his sf win)

odd fact time: in 1991 it was strange as becker lost the Wimbledon final to stich but next day climbed to no1 because 1990 champ Edberg lost in 91 sf to stich..

uso 1985 final lendl removed McEnroe from no1 after beating him in final. maybe a Sampras-Agassi clash in a major final somewhere ?. I dunno.

Should be Djokovic this time IMO. The only question for me is how he will deal with the nerves if he gets close to the finish line or even if it is just tight throughout. When Nole plays clean Rafa is at his mercy regardless of the surface.

Nobody will come 5th tomorrow.

If Sharapova wins, she does! She becomes #5

Oooops, wrong forum!
:)

I did say you ATP fans have it too good....

If both that cow and Nadal win tomorrow I may have to buy another new laptop again. I hear they don't work too well after you drop them from a 3 storey house.

i agree patrick mcenroe was saying if rafa plays A game on clay he wins and i was like not if nole plays his A game. noles A game will beat rafa anytime anywhere
