^ Doesn't mean he's always right, nor am I, but in this case I think it's common sense. JMac was also an outstanding doubles player so that might give him a different viewpoint. To me doubles and DC are separate accomplishments to the ATP tour and Olympic singles. You are somewhat reliant on another player to win doubles and DC...it's different.

Fed, Rafa, Stan are all pretty good doubles players and I am sure that they dont share your sentiment. but its your opinion

Fed maybe, the other 2 no... and none are Jmac or even tried to be in doubles.

Funny enough, if Fed's movement is off, he might be better off playing doubles tomorrow with Stan, try get the victory and hope Stan can beat le Monf on Sunday. That's prolly a better option to dumping the doubles and hoping Federer can play a full five on Sunday...

Most, if not all would rather win DC but what's a bigger statement for your singles career: winning a field in singles vs. top 8 in the world or possibly going 1-1 or even 0-2 and winning a team event?

It might say more of a player individually in terms of level of tennis. But a great deal is also about perception. People want to win Wimbledon because it is seen as the most prestigious tournament in the world. DC is so highly regarded just because it is not an individual event. wtf is still a bit of a commercial thing.

It's risky but it's prolly less predictable. I mean, if he can't even get close to Monfils for even one set, JW will beat him, no doubt about it. Teaming up with the Stanimal - and do I hear Mirka in the crowd? Yessir! - I think the Swiss could win tomorrow...

Only the YEC features doubles, so I have no real clue about the French doubles team! I've heard Julien Benneteau name the most so I guess he'll anchor the team! The top players have got to get more involved; missing the days of McEnroe, Edberg, Ramirez, Nastase, and other #1's in singles who also excelled in dubs!

Well I don't want to battle stubborn AP either...so just point me to the fella's doubles record and I will decide for myself...

That truly is the seal of approval since you aren't so promiscuous with your "likes" or anything ;)

I saw the last thirty minutes of the match and, honestly, Roger ought to have let someone else play. He was not able to hit through the BH or run down shots to the corner. I get the feeling his ego and pride got to him--he ought to have waited to see if he needed to come in for the fourth or fifth rubber. In hindsight, it looks like a poor decision; another day or two of rest might have helped. At any rate, unless he is leaps and bounds ahead of where he physically is now, I would bench him for the fourth or fifth. See if they can win it on doubles (which Roger should NOT play) and then set Stanislas in the fourth slot to be the hero. That is the way to go.
