The stadium in Lille is hands down the world's largest tennis stadium with a capacity of
27,000. It is even bigger than Ashe Stadium at USO (about 23,000) which beats the center
courts of all other Grand Slams (about 15,000) with a wide margin. So, the fans and
atmosphere also will play a huge role in the event.

Honestly? Strategical mistake. Lots of tickets, fine, but in terms of pressure, the smaller the better. Federer will feel quite at home, maybe even Wawrinka will.

so it's indoor clay. Now who will play singles for France?

Gasquet, Simon or Benneteau would be the most likely winners imo.

Independent of what the result may be, I think France made a good choice.

Monfils is out for 6 weeks now with a knee injury. Scratch him off that list. Tsonga's very inconsistent and if we're talking guys who trouble Roger especially I'd say Simon and Benneteau personally first.

Probably not a bad thing for France, as the Davis Cup is an awfully big responsibility for the unpredictable Monfils.
Tsonga-Simon is my favorite team for France, but I wouldn't be surprised if they go Tsonga-Gasquet, because Gasquet led Wawrinka TWO sets to love at 2013 Roland Garros (not that the final is at Roland Garros, but its on clay).

Singles may be a little bit tough choice. But, doubles is no brainer. Julian Benneteau and
Roger-Vasseling. They are 4th in the doubles race and also individually both are in top 10
in doubles.

If Monfils is healthy, I would definitely put him in for one singles and especially given
that surface is clay. I would give other spot to Tsonga.

Assuming he is not healthy, I would put in Tsonga and Gasquet for DC.

Too much cannot be read into the loss of Tsonga and Monfils in Metz. They
both were playing in DC and jumped right on to Metz just because it is in France.

In a Davis Cup environment I'm not sure Benneteau will have the stones to challenge Roger. Simon definitely though

Much too soon to decide, nobody can say who'll be injured or in top form. Hope all Froggies'll be hotter than hell !! It'ld be great for them to skip Bercy and train hard on clay before the D we

Spain have appointed a female coach, and uncle Toni isn't impressed. I must say, I agree with him...

Who knows.. she may be a better strategic coach than him:nono

A better strategic coach than one of the best strategic coaches of all time? Yeah, not likely.

Seriously, this "Toni is not a great coach" bull$hit was started by angry Nadal fans who couldn't fathom Rafa losing to Djokovic a gazillion times in a row in 2011, and didn't quite know where to place their frustration so they dumped it on Toni, who was apparently responsible for everything from scheduling decisions to Nadal's what they perceived as failed tactics.

Samson and others were calling for Toni's head, and begging for Rafa to bring in someone new (I still LOL over the suggestion of Johnny Mac as Rafa's new coach). You'd think that Nadal's wins over Djokovic since would have changed that. Actually, scratch that, you'd think the 14 majors Nadal has won in his career would dispel the ridiculous claim that Toni is not a good coach.

This idea is extremely outdated and was never wrong to begin with. Time to let this one go.

It's absolutely ridiculous.

As for Toni being a good coach.. yes he is for Rafa but What makes Rafa the only player to keep the same damn coach.. Federer changed coaches, Sampras, McEnroe and others.. So for you to be dismissive is not so :laydownlaughing.. Every sport, every athelete .. male or female have changes coaches.. Eg.. look at Serena.. she brought in Patrick and others to help her with the last phase of her career.. However... this is what you do.. BS .. you lay dormant with ole BS such as bringing McEnroe as a different voice because you dont like McEnroe or even Sampras ,,,then you pick so time like this to try to make light of it when the advantage is yours because we will never Know because Rafa will never bring a different voice.. Again.. this is what you do.. Its not so ridiculous but I not going to get into a battle with you are looking for something to bitch about.. not this time dude .. not this time
