CSN serves for the match and chokes away the set 7-5 to Cornet. We're heading to a decider and I have no idea who will win this match.

No one has any idea :D I am trying to predict according to the "characters"...
I say CSN will win it but I talk nonsense ;) btw, my nerves are shattered. Simona killed me today.

After today's match of Simona Halep I say a simple thing:
If Genie is in good form and beats Errani, she is the favorite against my Simona!
The surface is so good for big hitters like Genie. Safarova had more power than Simona and took a lot of advantage of the slow surface. Hitting power is critical on the IW surface.
Thats why Sugarova won it last year. Its an ideal surface for her.

Poor Simona had a very tough draw and has to play on a surface which doesnt suit her at all.
This event is very tough on her and reaching the last 16 is already a good success imo.

"She is got her feet on the ground and she is burning it down"... Simona is on fire :)

Genie was broken serving for the match....though she played a balanced, aggressive game to break Errani to win the match
Genie wins 63 63

You have your wish Si Si, our Eugenie versus your Simona in round 4! Should be a match to really focus on!

This Woz/Shvedova match is a prime example why people lose interest in WTA matches...it's very slow-moving and boring unfortunately

Wow Si how much we had to go through - quite exhausted but our babes got through to the 4th round. Caroline didn't play as well as in second round but she fought very well, so all in all a good match and there was of course no doubt in the third set. Time for a couple of Carlsbergs. Nice win for Genie btw - congrats.:clap

I was thinking more about Lucie during the match than about my player which I know so well..
I mean... comn Lucie, what the hell? you almost beat LI NA before she won AUS Open...
whats wrong with you Lucie in the sky?... Lucie has tennis worthy of top 5 in the world! BUT... her mental weakness..
Its just sad and maybe even tragic.
I am thinking about her whole career... what might have been if she was mentally tougher
....

I kinda agree and disagree with this, I don't think her problem is mental, she has the mental toughness, most time she is tough as a nail but I think her problem is consistency, she is inconsistent.
Any player can be broken mentally, I have seen the best and greatest lose matches because they just got broken. The difference is, it only happens once a while to them but it happens more often to the likes of Lucie and Petra, or even Li, they are not always consistent.

Maybe she has enough diamonds already? True Kiu, she had Li on the bumble at the AO and let it get away from her. I think she does have the metal capacity to play hard, but gets streaks of ..yes you are correct Si, inconsistency at the worst times. Not a player I follow all that closely but she has all the tools one day to pull off a big win at a major. Followed her pretty closely when she won the Bell Challenge at Quebec City this year.

Aggie was stingy, she didn't let Annika win any games!
I didn't think Annika had any chances,but...
6-0 6-0 was the score.
That was unexpected.

I will be there this Saturday and Sunday. Last year, I made the mistake of going the second weekend when most players had already left. Really looking forward to this tournament...

Hope you had a good time and saw many players.

Yes, this types of hard matches are murder for the fans.
I told you in Dubai before the start that fighting is critical for Caro and thats what she was missing last year! As if she read my post ;) and started to fight in Dubai and now here. She has a match report on the IW website, and she says that her running won her the 1st set.
Caro is the type that needs the fight to win matches. Thats how she got no.1 in the world.
Rori is coming today so she has no chance to win the next match ;)

Hi, I just read your profile page and saw that you are Canadian :)
Simona has the speed advantage but Genie has the power and accuracy in her shoots. I give Genie an advantage in this match because of the slow surface, but... not really :D I dont give her any advantage against Simona :devil
In short, I dont know what I want to say  I cant predict this match at all.

Thanks, Kiu. I just got back, and am "tennised" out. I did see a bunch of players including Li, Cornet, URad, Petra, Cirstea, Ana, Lisicki, Pova, and Halep. Since nobody posted anything, I will be the bearer of bad news and say that Halep looks slightly injured. I hope she recovers in time to play her best in the next round. The good news is that she is capable of reaching number one in the rankings when Serena retires. She is incredibly accurate, has sufficient power, and is a smart player. I predicted she would win a major. I now think she can win one this year.

If anyone is sitting on the fence about going to IW, I highly recommend it. The atmosphere is amazing.

Oh god :puzzled I cant handle all these praise and excitement about Simona anymore :snigger
Its just too much after the Lucie match. You are overrating Simona by about 5%-10%, but no more than that ;)
Simona the girl on fire may need to learn French before she improves her English... :)
Looks like you enjoyed it there :)
