Dimitrov v. Dolgopolov could be amusing, if D-Love is on.

I agree. They've only played once, but it was two years ago, in Winston-Salem. Dolgopolov won 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(7).

I feel bad for Pospisil having to play Karlovic. What a headache. They've also only played once, in Newport this year. Karlovic won 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.

I was impressed by Karlovic against Berdych. Wasn't all just bombs being served. He hit some great volleys (especially in the 3rd set TB) and finished with a mighty forehand. But yeah, a tough guy to play against, no doubt about that!

Karlovic is the real deal. He's beaten 3 of the big 5.

Karlovic tied Djokovic 1-1
Ferrer leads Karlovic 2-1
Federer leads Karlovic 10-1
Nadal leads Karlovic 4-0
Murray leads Karlovic 5-0

So, the first meeting between Dimitrov and Roger. Can't help but think about the first meeting between Pete and Roger, when Roger was a pup. Obviously there is no way of knowing what Grigor's ceiling will be , but it is still exciting.

Gicen that this is first meeting, I will pick Federer. After all Grigor must be
overwhelmed playing a legend for the first time. Bow to the aura. The aura
may be non-existent, but probabaly exists for a first time opponenet.

I know Fed beat Sampras in the first (and only) time they played. But,
I don't see a parallel here.

I agree, GSM. Dimitrov has some momentum right now, so his confidence will be good, but he's never seen the bigger game that his is often compared to. And Roger has home court advantage. Also, incentive, I'd reckon.

Karlovic lost today

Well done Popsicle :clap...Looks like he broke Ivo's serve a bunch of times. Not the easiest thing in the world.

I am very happy with Vasek today:clap

It just depends on which Rog shows up. It's hard to imagine Dimitrov being to intimidated if shankerer shows up.

This match is more mental than most matches. Form isn't as relevant, unless Dimitrov can overcome the mental challenge.

I agree that the worst of Federer could be on display, but I'm betting against that.

I agree this could be a mental contest. Dimitrov finally facing the guy he's been compared with, all these years. Federer, who has a lot of reasons to need the win, and on top of it, he's going to want to school Baby Fed. I'm looking forward to it, too.

This.

Roger loves a grudge match. It's reminiscent of his encounter with Djokovic at the 2007 Australian Open, when Dijana made the infamous "the king is dead" speech. Federer made a point of dismissing Novak as efficiently as possible. This time, he'll want to show that at least the "Baby" part is right.

Well, there are a couple similarities, no? Roger was an up and coming player, having won junior Wimbledon and made it to junior number 1, playing against someone whom he said was a favorite of him. Fed was on his way up, Pete was slowly on his way out...
Grigor won junior Wimbledon, made it to number 1 in juniors, playing against a guy whom he considers to be the best...who is slowly on his way out...

The stage is different of course, but I see similarities.

Should be a good one. Roger has to see this as a big opportunity to secure London (if he just makes the final he is in really good shape) and to get some semblance of confidence going into the last 2 events of the year. Dimitrov is playing well and as long as he doesn't let respect get in the way he has a really good chance considering the Roger we've seen this year.

Popsicle wins an epic TB to go a set up against Dodig. Way to go kiddo.

I saw the TB...13-11. Great job by the Canadian.
