another five-set marathon win for Jack Draper. His third in a row. You would think that the amount of tennis and time spent on court will take a toll in his 4th round against Carlos Alcaraz.

Can Monfils keep it up?

The ultimate battle of “types” between a methodical consistent player with power weapons vs a brilliant but erratic free flowing goofball.

Allez Monfils !!

Gael Monfils upsets the No 4 seed Taylor Fritz in 4 sets 36 75 76(1) 64 to advance to the round of 16
Monfils is the second oldest man 38, to reach the round of 16 at Melbourne since 1991. A Swiss guy by the name of Roger, who did it in 2020
Allez Monfils

Q Tien ( conquerer of Medvedev) continues his great run and is into the round of 16 defeating Moutet in 3 sets 76(10) 63 63!
Tien is now the youngest man to reach the last 16 at the AO since Rafa Nadal in 2005

38 year old Gael Monfils makes the R16 at the AO, 2nd oldest male player to do that in over 25 years ( first is Federer)

At this stage of his career, fans should stop lamenting what he did not accomplish in his career, IMO missing the point: simply appreciate that someone like him can still exist in mens tennis and be thankful for that.

That was a bad loss by Taylor Fritz last night. I should have seen the loss coming, though. Taylor's body language wasn't good, even from the first set.

But hey, at least we have Learner Tien. When you're constantly setting records for the youngest since 1990 Pete Sampras and 2005 Rafa to do something, you have something special. It's only a matter of time before he breaks the American slam drought.

Monfils exposed Fritz lack of transition game, all match, an area he needs to address!
