Ons has to be penalized for seemingly throwing matches, and the way she played in San Diego and Mexico leaves a lot to get desired. She should stay home if she is not up to it.Rybakina kinda faded away during the hardcourts, and she was complaining a lot and that was an indication of fatigue.I just want to see competitive matches, not going through the motions s**t
Well some of those USO matches were soo one sided, I too want to see some competitive matches in the tournaments for the rest of the season
Maybe Ons thinking was if I keep playing tournaments I might find some form, quite frankly it has done the opposite.Elena got that shoulder injury in tournaments leading up to the USO and she never recovered, or found her form.

Maria Sakkari won her 2nd WTA title of her career and her biggest to date Guadalajar WTA1000 , this is Maria's 1st title since 2019, snaps a 6 match losing streak in finals. Caroline Dolehide who pushed her all the way to win the title. Maria never lost a set to the final and including the final. ( Maria did make hay while the sun shines in this very depleted field)
Well done to Caroline Dolehide who played good solid tennis all tournament, well done in making the final

Tossip,

Taylor Townsend is playing a ITF $60K in Templeton, California, where Katie Volynets and Taylor are the top 2 seeds, obviously they could have played in Asia this week, but opt it out to play In Templeton. Caroline Dolehide was to play, she would have been the top see though seeing she made the final in Guadalajara she withdrew.

She really is hustling backwards, and something is not in order in her life for sure.I want her to sit down with any one of the retired successful players ,and seek advice on how to plan her career. She seems lost... sometimes one has to spend money to make money.I now think that Patrick was right when he refused her funding. Its time to decide on who Taylor is,a doubles specialist or singles player...both are lucrative.

Well Taylor did say she was going to concentrate on her singles for the rest of this year, she is also in the top 8 doubles teams at present to make the end of years finals in Mexico, maybe at the end of this year she will make up her mind in which direction she will follow? agree she needs advice I personally would seek advice from a coach.

Elena Rybakina 2023: 42-12, 2 singles titles (F, 3R, QF, 3R at slams)
Caroline Garcia 2023: 32-21, 0 singles titles (4R, 2R, 3R, 1R at slams)

I don't know what a 'performance bye' is, but if that system favors Garcia having the bye over Rybakina, then it needs to be shelved. Rybakina's performance in 2023 is way than Garcia, no matter what measure is used.

Oh well, I guess it'll take me to delve into the non-PC angle of the story! I'm sorry, but even though I love the way Townsend plays, you'll only have sustained excellence from her when she drops a few #'s! That's the way it is! Back in my day, it was enough to be athletic! Many tennis players carried a little extra weight! Patrick Krajicek mused that "80% of WTA Tour players were big, fat pigs!" His only retraction was humorous; "ok, only 75%!" It took Martina Navratilova to revolutionize training for female tennis players! Even Evert was a porker thru the 70's! Now adays, Serena got away w/ carrying around some extra #'s, but overall I can only think of Ostapenko who's a little soft! Not sure about our latest "almost great," Ons Jabeur! PILE ON! :face-with-hand-over-mouth: :astonished-face: :fearful-face: :face-with-tears-of-joy:

If you read properly the WTA is trialing the bye performance okay,in Tokyo. Two were allocated to SFs Garcia and Sakkari in Guadalaljar after their seed positions were drawn,
