Ons Jabeur leads the field which has 8 of the Top 20 players competing. Main draw begins September 11.
Defending champion Iga Swiatek who defeated Donna Vekic in the augural edition of the tournament ( Swiatek is not competing in 2023)

Just reading some news regarding Taylor Townsend, her new ranking is 104 not quite in the Top 100, but she said she would concentrate on singles for the rest of the year, Taylor qualified for the USO making the 3rd round, also have good runs in doubles and mixed doubles at the USO this year.

Well..she has to work a little bit harder,and focus on her game.A coach and physio are needed.Sometimes to make money one has to spend money.Hopefully she wins some matches enough to get into the AO on her own merit.

Just watching Parks v Potapova at the San Diego Tournament,

Parks really needs to address her serve at present, 13 DFs, 3 Aces, she won the 2nd set 75, going 3 sets now ( Potapova won the 1st set 62)
Matches suspended, on serve in the 3rd set Parks 2-1 before the match was suspended
Matches have now resumed 2 all in the 3rd set
Potapova more experienced showed in the latter part of the 3rd set she wins 62 57 64

Sloane Stephens has appeared in the 1st set 61 over Elise Mertens in their match at the WTA500 San Diego tournament, can she keep this up in the 2nd set, we shall see.

One of the reasons she is playing on wanting to gain points for the end of year finals, she won her match via retirement over Osorio 63 2 all in the 2nd set,before Osorio retired with injury

Ons Jabeur continues to have problems in her game being the Top seed in the San Diego WTA500 tournament she goes out to Potapova in straight sets 64 76(4), though Potapova on her day can be difficult to defeat
Maria Sakkari (3) wins via retirement 63 2 all in the 2nd set over Osorio who had a injury and retired.
Danielle Collins battled hard against Ostapenko to win in 3 sets 26 63 64, yes there was a handshake at the net
