I still think that Venus Williams, at this stage in her career, could be an effective doubles specialist like Hsieh. Playing doubles would help Venus in her singles game as well. The problem is that Venus is stubborn and wants to play singles only because for whatever reason, she feels that she's too good for doubles. You can't win singles matches at slams at age 43 with that mindset.

Well she made the R16 this year at Wimbledon defeated by Bouzkova, remember noone lost points last year at Wimbledon, actually she made the R`16 last year at Wimbledon as well.
OK.I guess a lot of her points come from the US hardcourts, and she better get ready to defend all those points.

Yep, hopefully she can get her game back to where it was, grass is usually a good surface for Garcia having one a title.
It is Sakkari I feel is lucky to be in the Top 10, her game has gone down hill fast, she needs a mental coach asap and a new coach, Tom Hill is a very good coach, though he and Maria have been together for sometime, she has just won 1 title.

Kskate,

These are the points fro Swiatek and Sabalenka Monday 17th July, 2023
Swiatek 9315
Sabalneka 8845

Simona Halep is the current champion at Toronto last year, though seeing she is suspended due to a doping charge,
This year the WTA1000 is going to be played in Montreal, highest ranking points are 900 points for the winner.
Last year Iga was defeated in R16 by Haddad Maia
Last year Aryna was defeated by Gauff in a 3rd round match

For Sabalenka to take the No 1 ranking she will need to win the title getting 900 ranking points if she does she will have 9745 points of course this is purely hypothetical Saba has to go better than the 3rd round, Iga needs to go better than R16 in Montreal

I just don't see Pegula, Garcia, or even Sakkari winning a slam at this point. They all lack the mental fortitude needed to beat a top player in a slam. (I mean, can you really see any one of them beating Kvitova, Rybakina, and Sabalenka back-to-back-to-back in a slam like Jabeur just did? And doing that wasn't enough for Jabeur to win the slam!) Plus, these players are getting up there in age, Pegula and Garcia are almost 30 and Sakkari is 28 this month.

A draw has to really open up for any one of those players to win a slam, and even then, I still have a hard time trusting them not to get upset.

USA Jennifer Brady, former AO finalist and USO semi finalist who's been out of action since August 2021 with foot and knee issues is playing R1 Granby 50K v Kyoka Okamura
Good to see Jen Brady back on the tour, hopefully her injuries are behind her now.
