BTW it is one year today that Peng Shuai posted she had been sexually assaulted?
I still feel there are many unanswered questions on her whereabouts and if she is mentally and physically well?
Maybe we will never get the answer to those questions as the Chinese are masters of deflection
The WTA may have banned the tour from going to China? in 2022, still the many questions of Peng Shuai's safety remains unanswered to this very day.

Gosh, so long since I have signed on here. Who would have thought Garcia would have qualified for the YEC, let alone win it!
You need to watch her results from the 2nd half of the year, I have always loved her game, she just needed the right coach, she won 3 titles on 3 different surfaces in 2022, her game relates to all 3 surfaces and she made the SF at the USO., also an excellent doubles players, hopefully she will continue with these solid results in 2023

Coco Gauff, Leylah Fernandez and Sloane Stephens are all signed up for WTA250 event in Auckland in 2023, so no chance to see them playing in the United Cup in Australia

I was aware she was playing much better. I had heard reports she was no longer being coached by her Dad, and that change really showed in her results. I don't know if that is true or not, but I have seen many players coached by their fathers and it has not worked out well. Smart move on Garcia's part to have a "different voice in her ear" so to speak. She really was on a roll during the second half of the year. However, I would never have thought she would win YEC. I thought that was Iga's event for sure, as did many it seemed. Pleasantly surprised is how I will leave it. Hopefully Garcia can remain healthy (and motivated) and 2023 will be a great year for her.

In the USA tie in the BJC against Czech Republic

The Banchee lost to Vondrousa 63 63

Gauff is playing Siniakova who she should be able to defeat.....Siniakova defeats Gauff 76 (1) 61.....Oh Dear!

I think Gauff should have taken a leaf out of Pegula's book and not play the BJC.

Madison Keys/Taylor Townsend are playing doubles for the USA against Muchova/Pliskova

I must say GBR have been the 'surprise country' at the BJC

Australia and GBR will now go down to the wire in a deciding doubles match t/break

Monica Puig marries Nathan Rakitt in Puerto Rico

Monica Puig, who retired from the WTA Tour earlier this year, has traded her racquet for a Rakitt. The 29-year-old married Nathan Rakitt on Friday in her native Puerto Rico.

According to El Nuevo Dia, a Puerto Rican newspaper, the couple originally met 15 years ago at a tennis camp in Atlanta (Rakitt is from Georgia) and began dating two years ago. Before they reunited, Puig reached No. 27 in the world and won the gold medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Rakitt played NCAA Division I tennis at Georgia Tech from 2012 to 2016. According to his LinkedIn profile, he is a product manager at Capital One.
The ceremony took place seaside at the Caribe Hilton hotel in San Juan. The weather was misty, but nature smiled on the couple with a pair of rainbows through the gray skies. Puig wore a gown of tiered fringe designed by Harry Robles after donning a simple strapless mini-dress with a dramatic floor-length bow around the waist the evening before. She gave a Puerto Rico magazine a sneak peek of the reception, showing modern boho-glam decor. El Nuevo Dia reported that 140 guests were in attendance.

Rakitt brings a lot of his own medals to their Atlanta household as a regular competitor in Spartan Races. He and Puig completed the New York City Marathon last weekend. It was Puig's first of what she hopes will be a complete set of the word's six biggest marathons.

Hopefully, the couple that sets personal records together stays together.

Well done to Swiss for winning their first Billie Jean Cup defeating Australia 2-0
Both Swiss players Teichmann and Bencic too good today for their Aussie opponents
