are we supposed to care about Azarenka lying that she has an injury, she did the same thing just before Wimbledon. She thinks she is above these small events and when she meets pova or Serena early she cries foul.
I have no symphathy for her these days because of her childish antics with her bitter hitting partner..

Says the Serena fan after Serena did EXACTLY the same thing in the EXACT same week.

And that's what I question. Why would anyone w/ that kind of talent and promise (a former junior Wimby doubs champ) choose to play ITF instead of quali's is beyond me. That shows no initiative or drive. It's like settling.

I actually really agree. 167 is on the cusp of breakthrough. If you're still young and you don't want to drift into middling years in the 100s you shod be trying every chance you get to get into main draws at slams.

I just noticed in Hoergren's new thread that CiCi Bellis received a WC for Stanford ranked at 167. If she got a WC, why couldn't Taylor get one? Did Taylor ask Stanford or Washington for a WC?

I wonder how that even works... Maybe those advising her are suggesting the try to build up more confidence and match experience on the ITF circuit. Still, she's 19 at this point. She's no longer the very young teen phenom. It's crunch time.

However, there is a crucial difference. Serena is #1 and Vika is not even in Top 16. If Vika wants good seeding in GS and other big events, she needs to play in small events instead of being a snob. That is a no-brainer.

How are we to know if Azarenka is lying? The girl collects injuries like it is no one's business, so it is entirely possible she is injured. Who cares? I want healthy players at the events that matter. Yes, it does suck because Vika does need to get that ranking up, but let's hope she finds herself on the other side of the draw from Serena, so she can get there. Azarenka is due a break from the draw gods one would imagine soon.

My point was not that Serena can afford it more. Of course she can afford it she's a GOAT. My point was that Tossip, who is a big supporter of Serena who pulled out with a mysterious injury this very week, said that Vika's injury was fake. How is it not the height of hypocrisy to say that Vika is lying and that she thinks she's better than small events and then say nothing of Serena pulling out of Stanford?

Especially when Serena is posting pics of herself in gymnast poses in the air right around the time that she is pulling out of an event.

My point is who cares. They have their reasons, but you can't throw Vika under the bus when Serena is doing the same thing. They both have very different circumstances, where Vika needs to get her ranking up, and Serena doesn't. However, Vika clearly felt she needed to withdraw, so she did. I wish some of the other morons like Kvitova took note on how to make a schedule and/or make changes to one cough New Haven cough remove it.

I don't take much stock in the pictures that are posted by players. We don't know if a picture posted today was actually taken that day. I sometimes post pictures days or even weeks after an event. Regardless, if Serena, Vika or Genie say they are injured, unless I have their medical records in front of me, I must believe them. At their levels, a small problem could affect their games in a major way.

1. I agree. It is actually in Vika's interest to play in these small events to get her ranking up and so, if she pulls out, it is more likely that she has real injury than fake injury.

2. I have stopped complaining about fake injuries, if a player withdraws. But, I do complain if a player loses a match and then say they were injured.

THANK YOU! Thats exactly what I was trying to say. To be honest these women play GRUELING schedules. Neither are lazy. It is the HEIGHT of hypocrisy to call Vika a liar and say her injury is fake and then turn around and say its perfectly ok for Serena to do the same.

Serena needs rest because she has gone far in almost all the events she played in 2015.She must be mentally depleted from winning AO15,paying Fedcup, then the emotional drain when she returned to Indian Wells, winning Miami for the eighth time, reaching semis in Madrid, winning RG15 whilst battling a cold and then the pressure of winning the Serena Slam..cant compare this with some player s sparse schedule.

What are you talking about Serena's schedule has been just as sparse: Hopman Cup, AO, IW semis, Miami, Madrid semis, Rome default, RG, Wimbledon and 1 Round of Bastad. I don't even know why you are comparing her with Vika. They are different players. They both may be injured or tired or whatever. Injuries can happen at anytime while playing, training or on off time. Vika if healthy usually does play, so something must be up. She is best on hard courts, so she must feel confident about her abilities no matter the match play. I think we can all agree Serena needed a break and should be very careful about her schedule period going forward. Vika definitely needs more training.

Vika is not the best on hardcourts, she has lost many times on hardcourts to Serena...maybe second best,
Serena went deep in every event she played including Hopman Cup and Vika was always losing early so she is the fresher of the two...

I completely agree. You and I are both saying the same thing. It's wrong for someone to claim Vika is lying about her injury. Just as it would be wrong to say the same about Serena. Yet, for some reason this poster finds it perfectly normal and doesn't at all see the hypocrisy in calling Vika a liar and Serena a saint for doing the exact same thing.

I am puzzled as to why Muguruza got an extended ovation,I never understood why...I feel Serena should have got an ovation for achieving the Serena Slam something that is so difficult to do....reaching the final can happen often but holding all four is next to impossible..I saw a puzzled look on Serena s face and understood..oh well what else is new.

Come on tossip, the greenhorn girl fought bravely unlike other girls who cry and so she got some ovation. What is your problem?

I agree that Serena's feat is much greater and she deserves a lot of applause. But, that does not mean people should not appreciate Mugu. Stop being fanatic.
