Awesome! Cannot wait to see these two playing doubles together! Hopefully they'll have better results together. Kvitova has never made it past the 2nd round of a doubles slam, and Wozniacki made it as far as the 3rd round just once.

It will be interesting to see how the manage the lefty-righty issues that usually crop up in doubles, especially with partners not used to playing with each other.

I can't see Woz being good at doubles. She has a weak net game.

Weak or strong they IMHO just want a little more grass in their legs - here is the doubles draw where you can see they will get a tough start and might not survive first round:

HINGIS, Martina SUI/MIRZA, Sania IND v KRAJICEK, Michaella NED/ PLISKOVA, Karolina CZE

GROENEFELD, Anna-Lena GER/ROSOLSKA, Alicja POL v CHAN, Hao-Ching TPE/PENNETTA, Flavia ITA

GARCIA, Caroline FRA/SREBOTNIK, Katarina SLO v JANS-IGNACIK, Klaudia POL/KLEPAC, Andreja SLO

DUSHEVINA, Vera RUS/MARTÍNEZ SÁNCHEZ, María José ESP v RAE, Jocelyn GBR/SMITH, Anna GBR

MEDINA GARRIGUES, Anabel ESP/PARRA SANTONJA, Arantxa ESP v GOERGES, Julia GER/HRADECKA, Lucie CZE

CHAN, Yung-Jan TPE/ZHENG, Jie CHN v BABOS, Timea HUN/ MLADENOVIC, Kristina FRA

BLACK, Cara ZIM/RAYMOND, Lisa USA v KVITOVA, Petra CZE/ WOZNIACKI, Caroline DEN

BOUCHARD, Eugenie CAN/ERAKOVIC, Marina NZL v MAKAROVA, Ekaterina RUS/VESNINA, Elena RUS

It will be an interesting partnership to watch. It isn't like both can't use the match play and benefits that come with playing doubles. I don't necessarily think they will make a good team, but stranger things have happened.

From Caroline to you

CKOKqhyUMAAjc_V.jpg

Exactly 10 years ago today I played my first WTA match and turned professional. I was just a girl with a dream of one day becoming one of the best tennis players in the world. A dream that I have worked hard for for as long as I can remember. 10 years on I am living my dream, playing on the biggest stages with the best fans in the world! I can't believe that those 10 years have just flown by! There is still so many things I want to accomplish and I can't wait to see what the next 10 years bring!

:heart::heart::heart::heart:

And today she looks stunning too.

I moved all comments about Kirilenko and Sharapova dating/marriage to this thread:

Thank goodness. In this history making year she shouldn't be focusing on silly money making things like WTT.

Interesting. I thought it was only the ATP where we saw a player with a totally disproportionate left arm!

SI's Courtney Nguyen is becoming an administrative official (details yet to be announced) for WTA. I always felt that her writing was just bland without any deep insight.

The conventional wisdom is that if you are a top player or even a reasonably good player, you should not be playing in the week before a Slam. Look at the field in Connecticut. It has #3 Halep, #5 Kvitova, Madison Keys, Sloane and Coco. I don't understand what is going on here.

None of them strike me as having any hope of winning the USO anyway. But yeah, pretty dense.

apparently Esther Lee is allegedly joining the Vika camp...Vika seems desperate to beat Serena.I have never heard of another player going after another player s whole camp...after this she will go after Jill Smoller and Patrick..
I want Serena to increase her security because this is becoming creepy....
can someone give Sascha an audition ..he likes attention like a divo.

Kvitova has been doing that way too much lately. I understand it a bit more when it's someone like Aga or Woz who kind of have amazing conditioning and endless energy but Kvitova should NOT be playing that even. Woz has always played New Haven and I never understand it. To me it seems so self defeating. It's like you assume you don't have a chance to win that slam.

In both times Petra won Wimbledon she was playing Eastburn. She may know a little bit better than you what suits her. :plot

And how well did it work for her this year defending Wimbledon after playing Eastbourn? I wasn't putting her down. Everyone including Kvitova knows fitness and conditioning is not her strength.

Well she didn't play Eastbourne this year. She pulled out citing an illness. But to your point, I've seen her play a lot of warm-ups on the NA HC's and then get to the Open and flame out early.
