Anybody else get the feeling that Serena's idea of "South of France meets Northern Italy" will result in a kitschy, tacky, horror show? More like Disney Paris meets Disney Orlando, with fake Michaelangelo's in place of busts of Minnie Mouse... :laydownlaughing
why will it be tacky......their house in Palm Beach is beautiful. These girls have travelled the world and know better about world architecture than you.

She was driving around looking for some green wool? :snigger

It's a beautiful green place, alright, and you could drive around it very easy. Ah, if only the WTA would come here! :snigger

I will try and put in a good word for Ireland next time I talk to Tracey Allaster who is in charge of the WTA (like in my dreams....;) maybe one day it will happen...I have always believed in the Luck of The Irish.

Great. Piotr just said after the US Open, that they were thinking of dropping Tokyo. Glad they didn't. It's a great tournament and she won there before.

really happy with the wozi evolution since dubai.
i saw signs of new life in dubai. :) something inside her kept it real and decent. then she got rid of phony rori, he knew he cant fake it...
then she moved on to be a runner with great fitness and her truth showed up on the tennis courts.
we keep on moving whatever it takes

For Vaidisova,'nerve-Wracking' Win is the first step in comeback...report from Kamakshi Tandon,September 17th.

Nicole Vaidisova, has described the first match of her comeback as a first step, saying it will take a while for her to get back to the tour level. The 25 year old Czech defeated another former prodigy,Sesial Karatantcheva,at Albuquerque's $75,000 ITF pro circuit event.Vaidisova held in nine of her 10 service games, earning a 63 64 win.

It was her first match in more than four and a half years."I can't be arrogant to think that after four years out of the game and have the health issues I've that I can just comeback and win everything," said Vaidisova to local press, indicating that this is the start of a full comeback."I still have a long way journey ahead of me.No matter if I'm winning or losing right now, this is part of that journey, part of the plan to get back to this."

But the former No 7 player, who retired at 20,produced enough to defeat a Top 200 player in two sets."It was a little nerve-racking,but I'm so glad I got through,"she said.

A former Australian and Roland Garos semifinalist,Vaidisova was married to fellow pro Radek Stepanek until a year ago and announced her intention to return this season.

She wants to do one thing differently this time,however...."I would tell somebody like myself when I was younger,it would be to enjoy it more than I did.It was just so much about winning, winning, winning, that I actually didn't enjoy it as much," said Vaidisova.

She has not yet publicly said where she will play her next event.

I guess her knee did not recover in time to allow her to play the Asian swing and YEC for the last time. I was hoping she could end it at AO. In any case, she had a great career and has done wonders for the sport in China. I expect a bunch of girls to emerge in the next ten years. The amount of sponsorship money for Asian players is staggering, all because of Li. Best of luck to her in her post pro life.

UNCONFIRMED

Li Na will announce her retirement tomorrow

According to commentators on BT Sport 2

Apparently in Cina goverment-run telelvision on CCTV-S and CNTV reported that Li Na will announce her retirement this week, citing sources and her agency,IMG.CCTV news posted on Twitter that it is due to injury. However,AFP said it could not get comment from Li's agent.Li has generally limited her association with the Chinese government, having frequently been at odds with officials before being allowed to run her own career

The above information comes from a report from Kamakshi Tandon...Thursday 18th September.

I said earlier this year it would not surprise me if Li Na did decided to retire, this year she has had trouble with her knees, also the fact she is coachless, also her age has to be a factor as well.
