Serena is playing Coco
it's American against American, it'll be interesting who the crowd favors.

Let be honest, Americans crowds are typical lukewarm towards Serena when she's playing someone from another country, now that she playing a fellow American....

But, for what's been stated by the tv commentators, she get's a lot of support at the Sony.

I am impressed by how massive Coco's serve is today. she scored an Ace on a second serve, finding Serena wrong footed.
She is putting very little spin on her serve.

Serena's foot work has been terrible this tournament. She probably should have spent her off season with Patrick's training camp in Mauritius keeping that in check.

I thought she was working w/ Shulstone for her footwork.

Well glad to see that Serena played better today. she definitely seem to come alive after the rain delay. But did anyone really expect Coco to make a dent. Gotta give it to Mary Carillo, she really earns her paycheck talking bull and trying to hype players. On to Kerber the golden retriever.

Serena doesn't need further training with her footwork, because, the issue is laziness, not a need to better footwork. Motivation seems to be a factor regarding when she wants to move those feet, and I have a feeling once she faces what she considers tougher opponents, she'll step it up.

And then Petra told Ana...you seem hungry honey, here is a hot bagel for you, right off of my racquet it comes.

Let's see if Petra can play like this against Sharapova...I mean Petra isn't known for her consistancy

Well done Petra.

I'm sure Ana didn't do much of those irritating fist pumps in the last two sets of that much.

Well done Petra.

Only saw the first set and then the final game. Does anyone know what happened here? Did Ana get injured or did Kvitova play lights out?

Good solid match from Serena. Coco has one of the stronger serves on tour and I hope she continues to improve and gain confidence.

Well Petra did play 'lights out' and just steam rolled Ana in the 2nd and 3rd sets
Ana did seem off to me....she also had 10df and to me was out of position to return serves.
Full credit to Petra....I just wish she could play more consistant...when she is 'on her game' she is a pleasure to watch.

Thanks for responding Fashionista. Let's hope for such a decisive match from the Spaniard in the Stadium ;)

Thanks for that, GG, too. I just got home and saw that scoreline, and was going to ask if anyone saw what happened. Odd from Ana, who has been sturdier for some time now, and serving well. Hopefully just a bad day and a great Kvitova.
