Halep playing good aggressive tennis in the opening stages.  Wonder if she'll be able to maintain it.

Oh my, match turned on a dime, 3 straight games for Simo and she will serve to even the set.

Masha has deja-vu of last match.

Maria Sharapova defeats Simona Halep 64, 64

A hard fought match for Masha being 51 up and serving for the match to be broken twice in her service games but she made it in the end - Great tennis all through the match

Congratulations to both Masha and Flavia.  At first I read that Masha called for a trainer and then I realized BB said coach and I let a sigh of relief.

... Maria found a way to win but she really needs to cut those double faults...

Maria had 12 double faults in her first match, she did cut it down to 7 in her second match.

I am thinking 5 would be an acceptable number of DFs.

Garbine is really looking good and has had a tremendous year; so, why should I be surprised?  She could really amp it up next year; she has fight.

After the Asian swing,Garbine to me,was a contender to win the YEC,she is my Dark Horse to win this year, she continues to impress with her straight sets win over Kerber.Fascinating match up next for Garbine where she will play Kvitova.

Who cares about Masha's DFs  and UEs  as long as she wins? :) - At least not I - Isn't it just amazing and incredible  that she's defeated Radwanska and Halep in spite of a long time out?
