That was very dramatic! Watched in a great little bar in Chinatown with friends. We were rooting for Germany because of one in our gang.

Disgusting escape by Germany. What a golden chance to eliminate them from the world cup and Sweden blew it.

I get it about the wars, etc., and I hate to mention it, but aren't your royals all Germans?
I guess at 1 point we have to let by-gones be by-gones. Our royals are a mixture of all different nationalities genealogically & there is quite a lot of German blood in there.

What an incredible finish. This World Cup needed this.
Do you think it's been otherwise boring so far? Spain v. Portugal was a thriller, even though I'm pissed Spain let it get to a draw. I saw the end of Mexico/So. Korea today, and maybe it was just the atmosphere of the place. And Germany. (I won't mention Argentina, lest I wade into controversy.) But there has been a lot to be interested in, from what I've seen, though arguably I've picked some good ones to watch. Some gorgeous goals. And no nil-nil draws.

Spain vs. Portugal and Mexico vs. Germany were the only memorable matches so far, with maybe Serbia vs. Switzerland as a distant third. But now things are shaping up pretty nicely.

Clever of me to have watched to best ones, then. You've said you're Juve and Italy. (Not options here. BTW, I lived in Torino, where rooting for Juventus is required.) So who are you rooting for this time around?

This WC will be great if Germany, Brazil and Spain exit before the knockout stages. So fed up of seeing them win all the time specially the first two.

First preference is obviously Argentina but if not them then anyone but those three.
"Obviously Argentina." Can I ask if you are from Argentina? Feel free not to answer.

It's fine I don't mind. I'm from India. I want to see the GOAT become the GOAT officially and leave no doubt that he's greater than Pele and Maradona. It will be a huge loss and shame for football if that didn't happen like if Fed hadn't won RG to complete his set of slams and officially become the GOAT.

By the GOAT do you mean Messi? (She says, hesitatingly, and not wanting to reignite the football GOAT debate.)

Yes I mean Messi. I'm fed up of hearing arguments for Pele and Maradona only because they won the WC and Messi hasn't specially Pele cause both Maradona and Messi are better footballers than him.

Well, I'll leave you to the people that are having that argument.
