Not really. Messi needed to score, there wasn't much time left. That was a Beckham moment. While it would have been great for Cristiano to score they were already up and there was lots of time left

Look.. I don't think Cristiano is better than Messi. At best he's matched him. At best. I think he's a better fit in most teams. You pretty much have to build a team around Messi. I think at their respective peaks you could have played Cristiano in any number of ways but it was always far more limited for Messi. Does that make him a better player? No. But you would certainly have to think about it if you were building a team from scratch. I can think of few players with the sort of close control Messi has. He's absolutely phenomenal and a joy to watch. You probably think I don't like him. I do. I just think the idea of him being the GOAT is absurd

Not really. They're forced to build a team around Messi because the other players don't pull their weight. Messi was important for Barcelona but not as indispensable for them as he is to Argentina. Same for Zidane in 06 for France as opposed to Madrid in their legendary galacticos team.

Cmon now you're just being absurd. It was the first game of the tournament, not "needed" and in any case it was a draw. The missed penalty doesn't cover for the disastrous game against Croatia, that's just a Ronaldo tard making a scapegoat out of Messi.

If you wanna play that game, then Ronaldo missed a penalty in the shootout in the CL final against Chelsea. Luckily JT's missed penalty saved his ass or else he would've carried that burden with him for the rest of his life.
