You know, although I voted no, if Masha wins one more this year, I may change my mind!

rugged said:Maria won't get 10. People talk a lot about Serena getting older but seem to forget that Maria is as well. And Maria just doesn't have the natural gifts of great athletes. The toll of all of the running (and screaming) she has to do to win a point will catch up with her soon. If you haven't noticed, she has had to go to a lot of three set matches lately. Eventually those wear you down, miles on the body and then injuries. I have noticed that Cibulkova, Ivonovic, Safarova, Bouchard, and Halep (all capable of easily taking her to three sets) play her as if they truly believe they should be beating her. They realize that she is a poor mover and that her serve can be a liability on any given day. It is only a matter of time. And that time will come in the near future.

The biggest clue is, for the first time, Maria has resorted
to gamesmanship to win a match ( vs Simona ). Never saw that before
an act of ....desperation?

She does that since her come back on 2014. So far it works because the WTA closes its eyes to it. She was doing that v Lucie, Ana, Garbine, Genie. Those eyes stares and time delays and crazy screams which are not proportionate to her hitting... its all part of her new deal. Mind games are an essential part of her game now.

I have always asked: what is that stupid stare across the net crap all about. At the FO she was finally getting called for time violations. Just to watch her bounce the ball, like a non-athlete, and then scream while serving is just horrible. If I didn't know tennis and decided to watch for the first time, and she was the first player I saw, i might be turned off to the sport.

That "I am gone murder you" look is so crazy and un sportive The other player should look back at her in same way and laugh at her.

May be a canal slam is in order?

Let's hope she breaks that habit and wins another one this year.
I always imagine her as a young child in a foreign country without speaking language, separated from her mother for months, and now multiple major champion, savvy businesswoman that did it all by herself. I will always admire her.

Hi Billie. Nice to see you.
It would be impressive if Maria won the channel slam. I can't think of the last woman to do that, but I'm sure someone here knows. Was it the Serena Slam?

Thanks tented, you too. It would be nice, I didn't even think of the channel slam, I was more thinking about her winning two majors in a year, but there is still a long way from Masha doing it and nobody really knows what can happen for the rest of the tournament. I think that both tours have been really unpredictable this year (except Rafa and FO)
