You know, although I voted no, if Masha wins one more this year, I may change my mind!

The NO votes are stacking up, now at 26

Maria won't get 10. People talk a lot about Serena getting older but seem to forget that Maria is as well. And Maria just doesn't have the natural gifts of great athletes. The toll of all of the running (and screaming) she has to do to win a point will catch up with her soon. If you haven't noticed, she has had to go to a lot of three set matches lately. Eventually those wear you down, miles on the body and then injuries. I have noticed that Cibulkova, Ivonovic, Safarova, Bouchard, and Halep (all capable of easily taking her to three sets) play her as if they truly believe they should be beating her. They realize that she is a poor mover and that her serve can be a liability on any given day. It is only a matter of time. And that time will come in the near future.

^ Grass is to fast for Maria to be a contender at Wimbledon now..Slower surfaces like Roland Garos and say the AO give her more time to set up her shots.

Yeah, it was alway strange to me that Maria didn't do better on clay earlier. After all she is not a good mover. The slow surface gives her time to set up and do what she does best - ball bash.

The biggest clue is, for the first time, Maria has resorted

to gamesmanship to win a match ( vs Simona ). Never saw that before

an act of ....desperation?

I have read that a number of places. I didn't watch most of the match. Is the screaming the gamesmanship everyone is referring to? I try to remember to turn down the sound of my TV when I watch Maria play. But when she is playing one of my favorites, I sometime want to hear the commentary. I saw her play live at Roland Garros in 2011 in the Semis. The screaming was nothing less than disgusting. It was so bad that if she was playing anyone else, I had never seen Li Na, I would have left.

She does that since her come back on 2014. So far it works because the WTA closes its eyes to it. She was doing that v Lucie, Ana, Garbine, Genie. Those eyes stares and time delays and crazy screams which are not proportionate to her hitting... its all part of her new deal. Mind games are an essential part of her game now.

I have always asked: what is that stupid stare across the net crap all about. At the FO she was finally getting called for time violations. Just to watch her bounce the ball, like a non-athlete, and then scream while serving is just horrible. If I didn't know tennis and decided to watch for the first time, and she was the first player I saw, i might be turned off to the sport.

That "I am gone murder you" look is so crazy and un sportive :D The other player should look back at her in same way and laugh at her.

There is one player who does that.

If the seedings hold true we should find out

in the next few days. Sooner or later Maria

should win one ......We will see.

Maria should be the favorite to win Wimby by now.
May be a canal slam is in order?

A 2 cheat slams more like it :) its a much more appropriate description.
She is lucky that no other top player except Simona is in form at present.
Serena, Li, Vika, and Petra are all out of shape at the moment and she exploits that.

Maria has NEVER won 2 slams in a row, if she does, it only adds to her resume.

Let's hope she breaks that habit and wins another one this year.

I always imagine her as a young child in a foreign country without speaking language, separated from her mother for months, and now multiple major champion, savvy businesswoman that did it all by herself. I will always admire her.

Hi Billie. Nice to see you. :)

It would be impressive if Maria won the channel slam. I can't think of the last woman to do that, but I'm sure someone here knows. Was it the Serena Slam?

Thanks tented, you too. It would be nice, I didn't even think of the channel slam, I was more thinking about her winning two majors in a year, but there is still a long way from Masha doing it and nobody really knows what can happen for the rest of the tournament. I think that both tours have been really unpredictable this year (except Rafa and FO);)

As soon as Serena lost, Maria became the favorite, IMO. I'm also factoring in no Azarenka or Li Na. Kvitova is still in the draw, but I don't know if she's in the right place mentally to win again, whereas Maria will be lit to take home the trophy. She's a fierce competitor, who doesn't give up. She'll be tough to beat.

Who cares?... Its how you win them that counts. Serena didnt stare and didnt delay time and didnt scream with intention to disrupt the other player. Thats all that matters to me.
We are unlucky that other top players are not in form at present. Li, Vika, Petra they are all in bad form now.
It will change. Always look at the bright side :) I went through lots of sport events, it doesnt bother me at all.
The good times will always be back. Its a cycle.
