Maria's present game,I honestly can't see her winning 10 GS titles
Maria's best chance to me is at Roland Garos. The faster surfaces do not suit her game, she needs time to set up her shots, also her movement isn't suited either. Her serve is also questionable, tending to d/fault when under pressure.

OK, for 2014, Masha added one to her resume, she now stands at 5
I hope she can turn the one every other year to 1 or 2 a year.
That's if she wants to reach the magic 10

Dream on! I just :nono SMH not being able to understand the interest, admiration, or even respect for Maria! I always have the feeling she's only taking advantage of upsets by other players! She legitimately beat Serena 10 years ago as a teenager, but I can't think of anything comparable in her winning of her "meager majors!" With the way she's talked about in the press and during her matches, she's obviously the biggest underachiever since Andre Agassi; more flash than anything IMO! :puzzled :nono

In other words, she's terribly overrated! :snigger :lolz: :laydownlaughing

She plays with great grit and fight, which I admire, but she's running out of time, and the field is catching up to her. I'm thinking she maxes out at 7-9, if she stays really motivated, and Serena stops playing singles in a couple of years.

^ There are a lot of 'ifs' there...I am not fully convinced at this present time with Sharapova's game, still I agree if she can stay movtivated and the draw opens up for her, maybe 2 more.

I can see her best bet is picking up a couple more Roland Garros titles unless Serena gets motivated to win one or two more of those. I mean her main nemesis was MIA at Wimbledon, and she couldn't make a run. Like I said in another thread, if she can't take advantage of the draws when Serena is out, then she only has a couple more in her. I can't see her movement improving, but rather I can see it getting worse with age. Even when Serena was out during her worst years 2005-early 2008, Maria only won two slams, so she doesn't seem to be making the most of her opportunities, and part of winning more is making the most of your opportunities.

Absolutely, positively no way the dominatrix reaches double digits.

From 2004, 2014 in ten years she has won 5 slams. Even if she plays for ten
years more, you should expect her to win less than 5 slams during this period.
Even eating sugarpova candies will not make her younger. Her prime time is
over.

My estimate for her is 7, at best.

When Pova had four majors, I predicted she would win more French for a total of five. I stick with this outlook. I think she will retire with five.

I hope for her sake she retires in 2-3 years. The intensity and desperation you see on her face during matches is scary. As in not healthy. She looks like she's hating every second spent on court.

I agree with a lot of this.

Am I impressed that she's even won 2 more slams? Of course. Do I think she has it in her to make even 3 more? No.

I think Maria is a good player...when she's motivated. The problem is that seems to come in really sparingly. It's as if suddenly over a two month span she gets motivated does well at a few masters nd then wins a slam. Then she sinks back into mediocre top 10 land. At slams the problem for her is that she has too many off days. It's too hard for her to string together two weeks of really consistent play. There's even been a few slams proceeding her French Open wins where you think she's going to win another because she's dominating in early round play then BOOM out of nowhere she gets knocked out easily. It would be one thing if this was occasional--its quite another when thats consistently what happens.

I think she will retire in late 2016. She wants one more shot at the Olympics. She will hang up her racquet after USO or YEC if she qualifies for Singapore.

I disagree that she dislikes playing or loses motivation. She has the strongest will to win of anyone on tour. When she loses matches, it is not because she does not try. Her game is really off that particular day.

pova is overrated..they confuse her cold persona with grit and fight.I think Wozniacki is very tough, she never flinches...doesnt scream or stare coldly at her opponents.
pova is overhyped by the media with the help of her agent who wants to build her up to be a superwoman. She gets easy draws ,favorable court assignments and scheduling...if she is very tough why does she need all this help. She was playing in cooler conditions at the USA Open...the moment they scheduled her daytime she lost..happened in Australia against Li Na and Cibby. At Wimbledon 13 she was assigned to a smaller court and lost....where was her grit and fight against Ler Brito.
grit and fight..my ass!
she wins with a little help from her friends and sponsors..

Poker face is normal in Tennis, she does a mean poker face.
She normally does not smile until she wins the match.

:snigger Her "pocker" face dont hide anything :D She simply hates playing for years now. You are kidding yourself just as she does. She is a mental case.
In a crazy way I wish Simona was a bit depressed like screamer! It would add more aggression and teeth to her game. But I would never want her to be in screamer's mental state.

:D The FO meant NOTHING to her today when she played Timea and looked like she is gone die there.
She is a mental case suffering from Serenities :D Your FOs addition makes her look more stupid, not less stupid.
Each to his own.. Here is another crazy example:
Abramovici the Chelsea owner spends Billions on an English team ant not on a Russian team...
Money, fame, titles are nothing. Sanity is the only thing that matters! :celeb:

The woman was overhyped and under-achieved as far as I was concerned! Since she won that '04 Wimbledon over Serena, she's been about as relevant as Anna Kornikova; just some titles to go with all that worldwide fame, press, and adulation!

I feel you and I dont care about her sick head. She suffers when she plays. Thats why she needs mental help.
Money and fame dont console her because her tennis soul was killed by Serena.
Her body language tells the true story.
Its funny how her fans also convince themselves that Masha feels good with life :D the illusion
