He said well!

Hey is that an interest in joining the Nadal Uncle Toni camp, if so I am willing to postpone my employee 401k deduction to go towards to hire Paul Annacone as an additional tennis consultant. Kieran or Carol open up a PayPal account and I will submit my funds on Friday. I am serious.

I think Paul has done his time in the trenches, and much as I loved him when he was with Pete, and he was also great for Federer, it's kinda like asking Darren Cahill to commit himself to battle again. These men are now corporate experts, not up to the rigours of taking a bloke like Rafa back to the top. Rafa doesn't need either of them blokes: he has the best coach of the lot... ;)

I agree, Rafa has the best coach and the proof is how many years are together and how many great results. If he has had a bad year I don't think is because his coach, he just has to blame himself like he does

I think we should give the "Nadal needs another voice on his team" thing a rest already. Of all the problems with Nadal right now, coaching isn't even in the top 10.

Now that Rafa has won a tournament more recently than anyone else in the world, when will anybody win one, eh? That's the new question. This thread can either keep asking the question that's just been answered, or close... :popcorn

^ I thought about closing it the other day, but decided against it in case there are people who still want to discuss various posts. Or write humorous ones. ;)

Since now if Rafa has recovered his strong mind/confidence he has the same probabilities to win tournaments like any 10 top player including the #1, 2 and 3

Believe me, carol, the day will come when this place will go quiet, because Rafa is back, and you and me will be there. Will we gloat? Maybe not as much as the heretics, but we'll manage something suitable for the occasion... :popcorn

Hardly a small party. I think there are more rafa fans than other player, but there are more active dislikers of him than anyone else!

It's still a Wafa board. They are just silent right now for obvious reasons. Hopefully they'll remain silent for good (nothing personal!!)

It's a fan-base dependent prism, in my experience, as an admin/mod. The Roger fans think it's a Rafa board, the Rafa fans think it's a Roger board, the Djokovic fans think it's about everyone but Novak, the Serena fans think it's a Maria board, the Maria fans think it's a Serena board, etc.

If a mod tells a Federer fan to quit doing something, it's because we're pro-Rafa; if a mod tells a Rafa fan the same thing, it's because we're a bunch of Fed fans; if a mod tells a Novak fan to stop, we're Novak haters. Blah, blah, blah.

^^^^ This. Well said.

I try to be fair; even if I truly dislike a player! If they are playing well and showing great results, "I give it to them;" even Rafa and Murray! I was ready to give Andy all due credit for being the legitimate #2 in the world, but he blew it last night! He should have been ready; esp. after playing a doubles' match Monday! He didn't just arrive and wasn't accustomed to the court so he can't use that as an excuse! :cover - Did you see that lukewarm handshake; barely a clasp? Typical spoiled   ....! He really drives me nuts because I know he should be doing so much better! He'll take Nole to 5 sets on clay, beat Nadal in Madrid, but chokes like a dog against some player I've barely heard of before! :puzzled :nono  :dodgy:

Well, it's not Rafa's fault to have much better H2H than Federer and to have 14 GS been closer than any other player to the 17. We know Federer's fans can't take it (who cares) but not all of them, I know some which believe it or not like Rafa a lot been their second fav player
I know that you don't like him, you have said it repeatedly but I can't do anything about it

Nehmeth, Riotbeard, Herios, Billie (though admittedly she doesn't grace us with her presence that often), Denisovic, and I'm sure I'm forgetting at least a couple, are pure Djokovic fans (can we count Fiero among them? Ha).

Darth, GSM, britbox, Front, Federberg, and again, I'm sure I'm forgetting at least a couple, are pure Federer fans (as well as pure whoever-Nadal-is-facing-on-the-day) fans. Can we count Fiero?

Kieran, Moxie, tented, Carol, A-P and myself are pure Rafa fans and again, I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple.

Now, I may have missed a few here and there that might tilt things ever so slightly in Nadal fans' favor as far as pure numbers go, but I think it's obvious the difference is quite small. So no, I really don't see how this is a "Nadal board" as far as fan-base goes because this would imply there's a significant Nadal majority, when there really isn't.

However, I'll say that much, this is a "Nadal board" in terms of discussion. These forums are dominated by Nadal conversations, whether positive or negative so it makes it seem like he has the most fans and the most "dlslikers." I think this is just a result of the fact that Novak fans and Fed fans don't mind each other these days, but they don't get along with Rafa fans, and Rafa fans don't get along with anybody.

And we don't need to repeat it again and again why Novak's and Fed's fans don't mind each other these days, they still have the hope, otherwise......never mind :plot
