You said Roger should be embarrassed for not winning Halle every year. I pointed out he lost to 2 decent players and that Novak also lost 3 times to the same guy Roger should be supposedly embarrassed to lose to: Haas. I'd personally say winning Halle 8 times isn't so embarrassing :p

Fine, but I have to ask again, who was his competition most of the time; players like Kohlshreiber, Youzhny, Falla, and this year with Seppi in the final! Sorry, most of the world don't know these players! :nono :cover  :dodgy: It's always great to win a tourney, but it s/b more satisfying if Nadal, Murray, and Nole were there as well! Call me a snob! :p :ras: - When Nole plays and wins a 500 like Beijing, he's had to deal with Berdych, Nadal, Murray, Tsonga, Cilic, and Ferrer at least! There's a difference if you can't tell! :dodgy:

You should realize the main reason Roger played Halle all these years is because it's faster and therefore better prep for grass than the slower Queens. Seems to have worked pretty well making 2 straight finals as an old git and winning it 7 times. And seeing as you're on the subject of boasting about 500 tournaments (why I don't know as they're absolutely nothing in terms of history books) and beating good players, don't forget who beat Djokovic to win Dubai earlier this year :p

You're really not much of a tennis fan are you? I have the impression that you make these rants of yours all the time. I bet you made comments like this after Connors was past his prime. It's tragic really, there can't be much joy watching sports like that. Flitting to one favourite after another. It's very hard to take anything you say seriously. :cover

Now that you bring it up; couldn't stand Connors either! That was the beginning of "ugly tennis" with mindless aggression! He did try to hang on too long; hypocritically signifying on old man Rosewall who he defeated in 2 grass-court majors in easy, straight set drubbings back in '74! Luckily I missed them both or I'd be ranting about them too! lol! :dodgy:

I don't know if it was you, Front, who posted this earlier, about Hamburg and the weak field, but it is an interesting point about how not all 500s are equal. Perhaps it's worthy of its own thread.

At least I'm not the only one that feels that way! I read that article a few days ago, but it only confirmed what I thought abut Hamburg when I heard Nadal was taking a W/C! Watching the repeat now and Nadal had a set point to win 6-0 and lost his serve! How does that happen? :cover  :dodgy: :nono :cover

^ No, Moxie I didn't post anything about the weak field in Hamburg. And we all know not all 500s are equal. They're only of note when Djokovic wins them beating everyone in the top 10 to get the title. I thought everyone knew that :D

So, Neither Rafa nor Fed have won anything above 500 this year. Will either one of them do so?

My guess is Roger wins one of the four upcoming Masters, or even the WTF. I don't think Nadal does,

Anything's possible, but Roger hurt his chances by eliminating Canada from his schedule! Personally I think he should be more judicious when it comes to where he plays, but going to the FO will always make me SMH! He has NO chance of winning it and can only hurt his potential later in the season by unnecessarily competing there against these kids! :cover - He's obviously putting all his eggs in the USO basket, actually thinking his best chance for anything big to win will be there! We'll see! :dodgy:

Cincinnati, USO, Shanghai, Paris, WTF
Fed has more than just a good chance to win these, and will likely win 2 ( or more :D ) of the events listed.
I really can't say the same for Rafael though, but we will have to see his level on hards.

Surprising that the Hamburg thread was closed. I had just worked up a translation for Kieran about the dust-up between FFS and Rafa.

It was only closed for a few minutes, while I moved split off all Fedal posts.

A 500 seems to be the maximum for them, I don't think they can do more
