This is my question. As I said above, it's not what you eat, but how it's regulated. Those among us who are vegetarians, you can shine your halos now, but for those of us who eat meat, there is no looking down our noses on those who eat tarantulas or dogs or crickets or bats, if they are a source of protein for poor people. The big issues are two: a.) If the animals are "exotics," there is no regulation over how they are raised, treated, slaughtered or handled before or when they are sold, which leads to disease, and b.) even more domesticated food animals can be poorly handled in the sale of them, and this also leads to disease.
In a global market, it behooves us to enforce certain sanitary norms on China and otherwise Asian markets. For their sake, and ours. Apparently we still import chicken from China, and you do have to question that.
