I was going to abandon this thread which I started but I've been feeling a little down the last couple of weeks & really needed to vent.
Why are there so many armed robberies today?
It's especially bad now as so many businesses have been going down but it's always bad because to me people are more important than money.
There are many criminological theories which are a lot more advanced than they used to be. I mean 1 of the 1st theories was phrenology which stated that it was something to do with lumps on the head & another was eugenics which seems laughable today. The most feasible ones today are rational choice theory which states that most people are rational & we all have ends & means & gang culture. If crime is the least risky means to your ends you'll commit it. Gang culture is about getting in with the wrong crowd & doing something because others are doing it & you think it's cool. I'm more likely to believe rational choice theory to be honest.
Not only has greed for money & land as well as beliefs caused more wars than anything in history, they have also caused more crimes too.
Money to me is a means of exchange at the end of the day. We haven't always had it. If we could all work together & share everything equally we wouldn't need it but I can't see it ever happening. We used to barter goods & services. I got taught that the Romans introduced money but this year I learnt that the Celts had money. We all need money to live on though. I can't really afford to think like this because I want to go back to work in a shop & have been asked to consider learning manual book-keeping & computerised accounts due to the fact in a few places I worked in I cashed up tills, did daily & weekly sales records & weekly figures sheets & sales, bought, sold & purchase ledgers as well as petty cash & invoices which I loved doing but I haven't decided yet & we live in a capitalist society as I had experience of when I was working in the hospital library & had to attend a meeting. In the meeting although dignity & respect was discussed a lot was said about what we could & couldn't offer patients because of money.
I'm sick of all the wars & threats of war. I would love an end to war but can't see it ever happening. Greed for money & land & people who aren't able to accept other people's beliefs cause them mainly. Historical examples are Edward I hammering the Scots because he wasn't happy with just being King of England & the white men going to war with the Native Americans for land that Native Americans believed no one had the right to own & wanted to share then examples of wars based on beliefs are the Crusades.
I could go into more detail but don't want to bore people by droning on & on but I've got it off my chest now & feel better.
