you'll be amazed mate. There's some weird cultural shit that goes on that's non-sexual but one culture might see it one way the other might not. I'll give you an example... we in in the West might think it's ok for teenage girls to walk around wearing next to nothing. But think of it from a Saudi family's perspective. They would view that as pretty paedo shit right there...

Maybe, and that wasn't always western culture... it's a modern phenomenon. However, some old Grandpa trying to basically french kiss a child is something I haven't come across. If it's ingrained in Tibetan culture, then I look forward to being educated on it. Either way, the kids face showed he was deeply uncomfortable with it. I'll go with my gut feeling.

don't get me wrong. I'm completely with you. I'm just trying to leave some space for cultural differences that I'm not aware of.

And you think I'm too open-minded. Nope, that's just gross. And I did look up cultural differences. There are none. It's exactly like priests abusing little kids. So much for the Dalai Lama being any different than anyone else.

that's your western judgement... and mine too. As I said.. I felt I needed to be open to the possibility that there's something I didn't understand about their culture. That's all.

And I don't think I've ever accused you of being open minded :D My point has always been that you're so concerned about being on the right side of things, I often wonder whether you even consult your own deep personal values first ;)

Hmmmm…

That might be a sign of how desperate they are. Look at what Putin’s sock puppet said - it could be taken as a serious threat, or it could also be seen as a desperate, loudmouth brag by an impotent bunch of losers..

actually the thing that immediately comes to mind is the rather bizarre situation where German Greens are more tolerant of coal power stations than nuclear power stations. It's only just last week that the last few nuclear power stations were finally switched off. At any time before that, they could have been ramped up and largely mitigated the dependence on Russian gas. I can't help but wonder if those German Greens aren't under the sway of the GRU. It's the only thing that makes sense to me..

Interesting! I wasn’t aware of that. I don’t trust green parties anywhere. They’re bunch of chancers…

So i talked to a couple of French friends and they are still quite livid that Macron ( “by subterfuge “ one complained) raised the full retirement age in France to 64 from 62.

When I pointed out that’s still lower than Americans full retirement (66+) their response? “ as an American your standard of living is to work till you drop and having more than 2 weeks of vacation is a heady indulgence”

Can’t argue with them there, LOL

Always reminds me of the fisherman parable. Various versions of it exist.

An American investment banker was taking a much-needed vacation in a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. The boat had several large, fresh fish in it.

The investment banker was impressed by the quality of the fish and asked the Mexican how long it took to catch them.

The Mexican replied, “Only a little while.”

The banker then asked why he didn't stay out longer and catch more fish?

The Mexican fisherman replied he had enough to support his family's immediate needs.

The American then asked “But what do you do with the rest of your time?”

The Mexican fisherman replied, “I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siesta with my wife, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos: I have a full and busy life, señor.”

The investment banker scoffed, “I am an Ivy League MBA, and I could help you. You could spend more time fishing and with the proceeds buy a bigger boat, and with the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats until eventually you would have a whole fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to the middleman you could sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery. You could control the product, processing and distribution.”

Then he added, “Of course, you would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City where you would run your growing enterprise.”

The Mexican fisherman asked, “But señor, how long will this all take?”

To which the American replied, “15-20 years.”

“But what then?” asked the Mexican.

The American laughed and said, “That's the best part. When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You could make millions.”

“Millions, señor? Then what?”

To which the investment banker replied, “Then you would retire. You could move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos.”

problem with the French is that their government spends even more money than the American one does, and. they. don't. even have an obscene military industrial complex to feed. It's just not sustainable

Brave New World…:astonished-face:

Yep, it's effectively Brzezinski's Technocracy. The warnings are all there for us to see. This is the oligarchy currently running the United Nations, the WEF , the WHO, and a myriad of NGOs.

National Governments are on the verge of handing over all health sovereignty to the WHO. Land is being rezoned. Politics is just drama - this is happening all through the world, regardless of "left" or "right". Covid policies were the canary in the coalmine.
