That was not even the point! The point is the MATCH UPS!!!! Your favorite player lost to Davydenko more than he won, on the other hand federer is 19-2 against him, but Nadal is 23-10 against Roger...Why?

Wait a sec, are you saying Feli is a bad match up for Rafa, and that's why he won? Am I missing something here? I could be...

No man, just look at the matches Lopez won against Rafa and on what surface they were played on, and look at Lopez's style. Looking at everything, those wins are NOT shocking. But that just does not apply to a Lopez-federer match. Because Roger uses that surface better than Lopez, hence the H2H.

Nothing that happens to Rafa now is shocking, and nor was it shocking that Lopez beat Rafa at Shanghai last year when Rafa was only back from the wrist, and about to go off again with the appendix. What other wins? On grass in the QF of Queens in 2010? I wouldn't over-analyse any of these matches...

Whatever! At least you could do your own research unlike some others! Make me a liar over the event from over 15 years ago! Stay dim; I won't bother trying to inform! So many said it didn't happen at all! Gawd save us! ;-(

Hey! I was defending you! :laydownlaughing

With that kind of "late" defense, I don't need any detractors! :cover :puzzled :nono  :dodgy:

You could have defended yourself quite easily too, brother! ;)

I simply asked for a link verifying her above claims. Maybe you can show her how to post a link and why it's good to do it.

If she was to post links to "all" good commentators, etc, the site would crash. Anyway, it was an excessive remark, which everyone makes occasionally, but not one that was a pointed lie. I'm not sure I'm getting why you're over-reacting.

It's been something we've endeavored to do all the way back to the days of tennis.com. If you're going to make a statement that goes beyond your opinion, then provide a link or two to back up what you said.

I asked that of Fiero. I asked that of Carol.

I could, but why should I? Do people really think I would make something up like that? It's disturbing to say the least! My memory isn't the best, but I have a very strong recollection of the conversation read in the papers or magazine! Asking me for a site is demeaning and too close to an accusation of lying! Screw those people! :p :ras: :nono  :dodgy:

It's a reasonable request, but in Fiero's case, a two second tap of your fingers would have shown that he wasn't making it up. No need to act like he was. I know we all can get excessive at times, but this is straight forward...

There is a third option: You could be accidentally incorrect :) It happens all the time on the internet (I know I have spread misinformation by accident), so sometimes people want a little more info/evidence.

I cannot believe I am not getting through! This is frustrating.
Ok...Lopez beat Nadal 4 times. All those wins were on hard and fast courts. That is the ONLY time Lopez has SOME chance to beat Rafa. Because his style of play is geared towards taking time from the opponent. One CAN take time from Rafa on hard and fast courts because he plays 100 yards behind the baseline and the low bounces does not help his extreme grip. There is no over analyzing, this is just clear as day. I am not saying Lopez is a bad matchup for Rafa OVERALL. I am just saying when certain conditions are met, he WILL SOMETIMES beat Rafa.

And this was in response to Carol's claim that Lopez could beat anyone yesterday if he played that well and I said that just is not correct because it is an issue of match ups and surface. What Lopez does on hard and fast courts on his BEST day, Roger does on an average day.

Nothing is wrong with pointing out he played well. I also stated the same, previously

I liked what Tignor wrote and agreed. But... that was not her claim.

I know perfectly well to post a link, maybe you should do it if you have read that Rafa has played like a crap and Feli was just ok

Twice on HC, once on carpet and once on grass

If Lopez would have played many times like yesterday he probably would have more titles than he has :hug

That's a different thing than what happened, but I agree with you. People remember things from a long time ago, get a detail incorrect while making the right point, but this became something else. I also vaguely remembered this WC because I was heavily invested in that race in 1998. It took 2 seconds on google to find the information. No need for anyone to cast aspersions at ole Fiero...

I got you, brother, no need to get frustrated. Regardless though, a one legged horse with a dodgy backhand might take Rafa down at Flushing Meadows, if the hoss remembered to enter... :cover

Whoa. Just got home and saw the scores and I see Federer beat Anderson 6-1 6-1 in 55 minutes. That's pretty damn incredible to beat a guy with a serve that good by that scoreline. Either Anderson actually didn't serve well or Roger's return of serve must be on fire. There were 13 pages on this thread when I went to sleep last night and 25 now and I'm too lazy to read through to see which one it is :p

Federer would have beaten ANYONE last night...

(I can do it too, can't I?)

I do not know if Federer could've beaten anyone last night, but he was playing at extremely high level on one of his favorite courts. So, that is probably not far from the truth. Could you done against Nole? It is possible, although I doubt it would be 6161. Overall, it was a stellar performance. If you continue playing like that, he could very well with this title again. To me, the most amazing thing is how well Roger has been playing the last two years at the matter how you cut it. He was not very sharp and 2013 and had only one bright moment of 2012. He is playing fabulous tennis and still schooling almost any player outside the top eight with regularity. I could foresee it being a top two or three player for the next two or three years quite easily. I honestly did not expect him to be this good at this age.

He bagelled him here in 2012.

Good morning everybody. The quarterfinals are half over and we are still talking about Lopez and the other guy I see. :dodgy:

Djokovic always comes back so strong after a narrow escape. But didn't expect a second set breadstick. Wawrinka is just getting Djokovic set up for the Grand Slam Take Down in a couple of weeks.

Dolgopolov! Whoa. Did he play well or is Berdych just in a hurry to get back to his bride? Will have to watch the highlights later because I thought Berdych would take this one.

Andy and Richard coming up! Go Murray!

I think Andy has a long slow road to winning this tourney and if he's going to succeed - and he can succeed - he might want to take care of Richard in handy straights today, kinda like Nole dispatched Stan. But does Andy have the energy for this? I dunno. Dolgo did great, but Nole will be waiting in the final for Andy/Richard/Roger...

Hard to know since Murray is always "running game" on the commentators, fans, and opponents, but his tongue seemed to be draggin' on the court last night! Grigor had to of taken it out of him! :nono  :dodgy:
