I like how everyone here has been watching tennis for at least 10 years, yet after most matches it has to be pointed that "player X played well, but player Y played poorly. It was a bit of both."

Hint. We're trying to be nice.

Watching Gasquet tends to annoy me as he always looks so hunched like Quasidmodo. So I won't :p

Surprised Andy has staged another comeback. Not watching tonight but following the score.

What's the deal with the rankings? With last year's points, where Roger is champion of Cincinnati and Murray a quarter finalist, Andy is #2. How come there is a chance of Roger overtaking when Murray has defended his points and Roger can't gain any?

I think it's a bit of both. Lopez played well. some of those volleys and that backhand slice were incredible. But Nadal didn't play all that great either. The thing that strikes me are that his shots are so short (shorts too!). It looks like he's trying so hard to get it deep and it ain't going.

He's been hitting short balls for years. All this talk of lack of confidence is getting old and I'm not naming you regarding this obviously :) He played tons of short balls against Soderling at RG 2009 also and it's one of the main reasons he lost. He just manages to get away with it most of the time. Not only are they hit way too short, but also often right in the middle of the court. Complete sitting ducks. This is why he's losing more and it's got more to do with this than all this talk of confidence issues.

If he had done that for years how he has got 14 GS and multiples MS? it seems it has been very effective . I see, maybe your fav never hit short balls and never go the the middle of the court, sorry but he has done that many times and it wouldn't be because his good serve .......who knows
Sincerely, reading your post hope that Feli tonight can send him home as fast as possible :popcorn

Andy is #2 right now because last year's points were removed before the tournament.

What's wrong with Bernardes?

He gave Gasquet a time warning... can't he see he's not Nadal?

Obviously he doesn't do it every rally and I also said he gets away with it most of the time. He clearly hasn't won his titles by playing short balls. I'm talking about the matches he's lost, not won :cover Often when he loses it's because the winner actually does manage to make him pay for hitting those short balls. Too often they don't and he wins. Hope all you want, Lopez is not winning tonight. In fact, I can't wait to watch Lopez the incredible.

And because Roger elected to not even play in Montreal. He's a generous caring chap that Federer.

So the points got taken off a week early? Usually they would take last year's Cincinnati points this Sunday night and replace them with this year's new Cincy points.

Would be a bit of a kick in the stones for Andy if Roger gets #2 back after staying home with his kids last week :p

I didn't see the march, how did Andy play? Well enough that I'd be less than 100% convinced he's going out in straights to Roger?

He actually played better today than last night. Now, is it enough to beat Federer tomorrow maybe not but he is digging very deep right now to get the number 2 seed at the US Open.

The one thing I see right now in Murray that I love is his mental fortitude. Ever since that Wimbledon loss to Federer, he seems determine to fight for every match like ithis last match. He showed it in Davis Cup, Montreal, and Cincy. I just hope he can continue doing this not just in 2015 but 2016 as well.

Must say I've never seen a match where Murray gave up really though. He has these lose first set, win in 4 scenarios at slams or lose 1st set, win in 3 elsewhere way more than the others.
