Patrick Bet-David runs my favourite Youtube channel.
This is an interesting (detached) and slightly methodical view on recent happenings. Quite funny too. Worth a watch.
Thanks Bribrox. I agree with him that most of the cops are trying to do what's right and that most of the demostrators are peaceful, that commonality is what's missing in some of the polarized discussions these days.
One thing where I sort of raised my eyebrows at was the implication that divisions in the country are perpetrated by the media because it benefits them. OK, getting ratings and viewers is a self interested capitalistic motivation, and I do think the Trump election has been great for CNN, MNBC, Foxnews, etc. However Yellow Journalism, media frenzy, etc has been around since before the American Revolution. Moreover, I think all corporations/big business of course do whtat benefits them the most, lucre and all, so I don't think the media is somehow unilaterally & singularly ripping the nation apart; one could argue that the actions of some of corporate America , which understandbly is also per their self interests, can be just as divisive & corrosive. Add the political establishment. At the same time, with all their faults (and yes biases) the media serves a purpose.
I did enjoy his point that people whipping out their cell phones and video recording things such as the George Floyd killing is a form of journalism, sort of ad hoc gonzo journalism. It amazes me how the official line is never retracted in so many of these cases until the inevitable cell phone recording pops up refuting the so called facts as previously reported.
